Smell.  I have a 7-month-old baby, who produces an impressive number of diapers.  Need I elaborate further?

Probably taste. There would still be smell to give a little pleasure to eating and with our knowledge of food safety today, it isn't necessary to taste for bad food - and smell would cover that, too.

The others, including smell, are important for safety just walking down the street and home tasks like cooking.

It is an interesting question that I had never thought about before, really.

I'm going to say smell.  As I'm approaching menopause, I'm becoming a super smeller so it would be nice not to have to worry about that.  But you are essentially giving up two senses because the sense of smell is closely tied to your sense of taste.

I almost said sight.  I have a very strong prescription, anyway, but I'm not sure I can handle not reading for a year.

I voted taste.  Smell is so important to taste that it would be like losing two senses.  Also I would constantly worry that I stank:)

EXACTLY my own logic for choosing smell.  Exactly.  Now, if I could arrange to start this year off by getting a really ugly case of the flu, that would jump start things nicely....

I chose smell because I pretty much don't smell anything.  The world is basically smell-neutral until a large threshold is reached.  Then, Bam!  I remember literally running away from the seals in Monterrey because the winds shifted, and I thought I would hurl.  I have also been like a cartoon person with my nose in the air being led to a good smell.  Neither is really pleasant. 

I would trade the rest for sight, though.

I agree with Oceanus. None would be easy. But I would choose taste because I could stand to lose a few pounds.

It was a toss up between hearing and sight. I need my sight to work, so it would be more feasible to give up hearing music for a year. Smell/taste would be bad, because I would end up giving myself food poisoning and not being able to feel a hug for a year would kill me dead.
