Actually, I don't find vandalism of public property, particularly messing with safety signs, terribly witty.
My cousin's memoir of love and loneliness while raising a child with multiple disabilities will be out on Amazon soon! Know the Night, by Maria Mutch, has been called "full of hope, light, and companionship for surviving the small hours of the night."

I doubt that the alteration diminishes the safety function of the road sign. It's not the same as removing stop signs.

Yeah, that color and shape is known to anyone. Heck, most of the world uses the same red octagonal sign to mean Stop now, and I think most of us could identify a stop sign even if it were not in a language we spoke.

I think it's funny. And traffic signs don't need words to be understood. Every time I've taken DMV tests I've had to identify signs by their shape only.
It's not the same as someone stealing a stop sign, which is a very bad thing.

It's still vandalism. And while I doubt the alteration will cause accidents, I would hate to see someone try to up the ante - "Oh, it would be REALLY funny if I STOLE THE ENTIRE SIGN!"

I am intrigued, however, that this person has apparently had professionally-made stickers (or so they appear) created in order to perform his alterations.
