« on: February 03, 2013, 02:29:25 PM »
Sorry if its the wrong place or not appropriate but I was wondering if you ladies could help. We are trying to figure out a boys name for our baby due in June that doesn't have a C in it..any ideas? So far the baby has been called it or he since we can't figure out a name.

Is the lack of a C, the only restriction? Do you prefer classic names? What is the last initial? (DH has an aunt whose initials were BRA until she married), do you have an idea for a middle name?

I like:

Brian
Timothy
Thomas
Nathan
Daniel
Jonathan
Jason
Edward
Steven
Peter

My dad wanted to name Little Bro "Hannibal Wolfe" but Mom vetoed that one
In the United States today, there is a pervasive tendency to treat children as adults, and adults as children.  The options of children are thus steadily expanded, while those of adults are progressively constricted.  The result is unruly children and childish adults.  ~Thomas Szasz

My favorite name for a boy is Liam.  I also like Nathan and Wyatt, or Emmett (although, not as much now because of Twilight).

Do you like classic names?  Modern names?

You could browse the social security service website to look for ideas.  I like names that people are familiar with, but not so common that child would have several classmates with the same name.  I went to the most recent year and browsed the most common 500 names when I was looking for ideas.   http://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/

How about Alexander (that gives you a selection of nicknames to work with)?

The last name will start with a E...we aren't set on modern or classical..we are pretty wide open..just nothing starting with a C..and we have the middle name which starts with a J...so it would be something J.E so I don't think initials wills be odd or anything..just having a hard time figuring out what to name this kid :)

Word of warning, at least where I live a 'Thaddeus' would be laughed right out of the school system. Nice name, but a little too classic. As for suggestions...

Brian

Henry

Francis (depending on whether it's considered masculine or feminine in your area)

Kenneth

Daven

Darren

Billie Joe ( of Green Day)
Peyton ( after the greatest NFL player ever  ;-) )

I've never knitted anything I could recognize when it was finished.  Actually, I've never finished anything, much to my family's relief.
