Honestly, I would donate it in a different location just to see if she would find it again and buy it for me.  Otherwise, I think you should just throw it away.

Cut it up and use it in that marshmallow roast you NEED to have this week?

No?

I was thinking it was time for a really big bonfire, myself.

Ship it to your Dad for donation. If it makes its way back to you, start shipping it to random eHellions for donation. I'll sign up for that list!

If it was cracked and peeling when you got it, it wasn't worth recycling the first time! Toss it.

This. Not everything has to be donated. If it's in bad condition, throw it away!

I'd cut it into small pieces, then, when you go out on errands, put a piece in every garbage can in town.

I love this idea.

But I have visions of Hester someday in the future presenting a bag of scraps to the OP saying "Guess what I found!!"   ;D

Seriously though, throw the darned thing away.  No one would buy it at the thrift store anyway -- except Hester, of course.

Too bad the moment is past, because I think it would have been totally cool to bust out laughing and tell Hester at the time she gave it to you again that you were the one ho donated after she gave it to you yes ago (and that you had worn it a few times, but you no longer do story time and found the care instructions too laborious).

I agree with this.

Would it be in bad form to donate it back to the same thrift store just to see if Hester will buy it again? (At least the thrift store will be making money off of it!)

While the story is hilarious, I am wondering why you didn't throw the shirt out in the first place?  I know that many people think everything should be recycled, but this is ridiculous.

I used to shop the charity stores for chore clothes about 20 years ago.  People who shop charity stores want nice, neat, wearable clothing just like those who can afford to shop in regular stores.  Not ratty, falling apart, ugly t-shirts that are ten years old.  I believe it's not a donation if you [general] give something that you wouldn't wear yourself or is in poor condition. All you are doing then is having the charity take out your trash.

If you can't bring yourself to throw it out in it's entirety, cut the front off and use the rest for cleaning rags.  Please don't "donate" it again.

Hey, I recycle everything and even I would throw that t-shirt in the bin.  ;)

This totally reminds me of a song/video that DH loves

And the fact that it's got a kitty on it is perfect!

I'd do this! I might even donate it to the very same shop, just to mess with Hester's mind.

I think the end to this story is that you take all the jewels off of it and put them in a baggie to donate to the thrift store for a crafter to buy.  Then you see a local news story breaking on television that a local woman purchased a little baggie of costume jewels for her crafting and one of them turned out to be a giant ruby worth six million dollars.  This woman's name?  Hester.
I've never knitted anything I could recognize when it was finished.  Actually, I've never finished anything, much to my family's relief.
