What song does *this* song remind me of??(Rascal Flatts)
« on: February 17, 2013, 01:26:49 PM »
Oh... I hate when this happens....We were painting and listening to some tunes and They Try by Rascal Flatts came on - I hadn't heard it before and it reminds me of some song from way back when...the chord progressions or something...Maybe something by Hall and Oates?  I could be totally off on that....

Here's a you tube link to the Rascal Flatts song.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dx3lXkGvPCI

Please help my OCD brain figure this out so I can stop thinking about it...

ETA: I thought maybe having the group listed in the thread title would be helpful

Oh, gosh, that does sound familiar... I can't tell you the song title, but it is on the tip of my tongue. They play in on the intercom at work a lot!

Thank you so much for driving my OCD brain crazy! ;) :P

Thank you, perpetua!!! I knew I'd heard that one! They do play it quite a bit at work. :P

I was looking through Hall and Oates videos, and they have the same sound but not that particular run of chords.

Perpetua - Good call!  I definitely hear it in there...but my mind said - nope!...that isn't it.....in my mind it was tied to a really early memory, like from childhood...."Tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree" kept coming to mind, then Captain and Tenille(sp?)....

This morning while I was lying in bed the chorus from "I love the nightlife" by Alicia Bridges popped into my mind and I was like - YES!!!!

Then when I was listening to "...Nightlife.." for verification Top Gun suddenly popped into my mind and Take my Breath Away by Berlin    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DARX9nzNE3E

...sooo - I think the one that was actually tickling my mind was the Alicia Bridges song (based on dates - I was born in the late 60's, it came out in the late 70's, so I would have been around 10 years old), but it's clearly a very prominent progression in more than one song!  LOL

Thanks for the help!

Wonder how many other songs we could find it in???
