SO Things you wish you never saw - Pics that make you happy
« on: February 19, 2013, 01:47:59 PM »
Because I was stupid enough to google something awful, I offer some brain bleach:
Story: Latrell and his sister were adopted out of hte foster system when he was about 10.  One day, in coversation with his mom, he mentioned that he was sad sometimes when he thought about the baby pictures he never had.  His mom is a professional photographer, and here's the result:

These are just the cutest and sweetest pics I've ever seen.

The Special Olympics.  After the events, when the pictures are posted, those are nothing but faces of pure joy.  I love seeing each of them.

A picture of my niece sobbing the first day of school. The catch is that she is crying because her mommy came to pick her up and take her home and she isn't ready to leave yet. It cracks me up.

This picture invariably makes me tear up and swell up with happiness: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/meghan%20vogel

The story is that 17-year-old Meghan Vogel was in last place in the 3,200-meter run when she caught up to competitor Arden McMath, whose body was giving out. Instead of running past her to avoid the last-place finish, Vogel put McMath's arm around her shoulders, carried her 30 meters, and then pushed her over the finish line before crossing it.

OK, now I have to go look at failblog because I'm sobbing.

Our family has oodles of junk.  One of my brothers in an effort to cut down gives us Christmas Presents through Smiles  which is part of World Vision.  Usually he gives to projects in Zambia because that is where we all spent our childhood.  However this year he gave me a goat because he thought  I would love the picture and I do

I have framed the picture and it hangs in my office and I think of the child and hope he survives the latest war.  But it is a wonderful picture

I have a picture of my son somewhere that makes me laugh whenever I come across it.

He was about 13 months at the time, and wearing nothing but a tea towel around his waist. The towel wouldn't stay so he's hunched over, trying to hold it up and run at the same time. His tiny butt is pointed at the camera and it's a motion shot, you can tell that he's about to ditch the towel...

As is, here's another of him (butt crack unseen) during a family fingerpaint session that also makes me smile.

Can you look at a joyful smile like that and NOT smile back? :)

Typhon and Echidna, when they're together, in Raimi's Hercules. :) That, and Typhon playing with his baby... I really wish I had a GIF of that dance, because it makes me grin every time! ;D

Party, because I was there, and partly because I know the horse, the woman he owns, and the remarkable photographer that captured the moment ;) .

Sampson, a black Percheron, and Kiva Fyrewulf are performers at the Texas Renaissance Festival. In 2009, this tiny little fae stopped by to visit and give him a wee peck... and.. magic happened. *Squeee*s abounded!

I am loving this thread!  Post more pictures and stories!

I'm not sure which of the pictures above I like the best!  They're all so terrific.

Any of these pictures:

I'd seen that before, and it made me tear up. I just scrolled through again, and it did it again. :-)

A friend just shared this one on fbook and it made me smile, as daffodils are my favorite flower and I just love Ireland. :) I've never been there, but I will be going in the next 10 years. That's my goal. :)

As for personal pictures, I can't look at this one without smiling:

And this one is just sweet, I think.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars.  You have a right to be here. Be cheerful, strive to be happy. -Desiderata
