Help with song suggestions: Girls' night out
« on: March 06, 2013, 02:31:50 PM »
I've been put in charge of creating a playlist for a Girls night out this weekend.  I'm mostly up to date on current (radio station) music but when I'm on the spot, I have a hard time remembering good songs that fit a theme.  So, I'm looking for suggestions for songs that are upbeat and fitting to a girls' night out.  The only rules are: no breakup songs and no Kelly Clarkson-style I'm-over-you songs.  Cheesy is fine (see below, Cyndi Lauper), any genre and any decade is fine.

So far I'm thinking of:
Lumineers, "Ho Hey"
Philip Philips, "Home"
Flo Rida, "I've got a good feeling"
Joan Jett, "I love rock and roll," "Bad reputation"
Cyndi Lauper, "Girls just wanna (have fun)"
Fun., "Some nights"
Shania Twain, "Man! I feel like a woman"

Probably also Black Eyed Peas and Pink, maybe some Britney and Madonna?

Cheesy 80s ok?

Men Without Hats, Safety Dance.
Bonnie Tyler, Total Eclipse of the Heart (everyone loves bellowing along with this one)
Cyndi Lauper, She-bop

Diana Ross, Gloria Gaynor, and 50s girl groups are also fun.
