I think last year I got 3 tickets, but didn't use them (bartenders don't actually ask for them).  And yes you are right Toots! I didn't pick up on it at all, but yeah, if a member brings a guest, then they are in a hosting position lol  I never take dates so it didn't even occur to me  :)

I have bee to a lot of events/dinners but never one with the bar set up you describe where guests have to buy their own drinks and members don't because they have tickets.  Usually the attendees are given so many tickets and after that it is cash.  So if you get two tickets, you can get two drinks.  If you and guest want more, you buy them.
