My dream house: zombie proof.

First floor has no doors or windows except for some 2 glass block windows set high on the wall. You use a retractable set of ladders to get up to the second floor to get inside.  Enclosed courtyard with a pool and a nice amount of green-space.

Inside 6 bedrooms, a solarium/greenhouse, an exercise room (huge, basketball court sized..with basketball hoops, rubber mats in the middle, rock wall to climb). A library, cat room and a computer room (which would be obsolete during a ZA but could then be used as a bedroom).

My real dream house: one that comes with a maid, housekeeper and a gardener.  We won't talk about the cabana boy  >:D

I like it. It would be good if it were on a hill overlooking a grand vista.

I like our home. To make it even better, I would have a 3 story addition built onto the back of our house: the middle floor (an enclosed sunroom) would be at the same level as our current 1st floor, the level below it would be a 2 car semi-enclosed garage, the top floor would be an enclosed sun porch that would extend the width of the the back of the house.

And I would like a front porch that extends across the width of the house.

Realistic dream house:

At least: 2K sq ft interior living space. 1 acre lot size.  3 BR, 2 bath, 300 sq ft kitchen (I'm tired of small kitchens), full finished basement.

Squeekers: here's a zombie proof house for you

Hm, not sure about that dark concrete.  Perhaps it could have a stucco finish, or be painted.   Otherwise, I like the house.  It would be handy for more mundane apocalypses like tornadoes and hurricanes.

POD on the tornadoes and hurricanes.  With that much glass I would feel like a gold fish unless I had acres and acres of land.

While I may not have my dream house yet, I wouldn't mind having some of these things in it when I do:

Porch swing day bed!
Rotating kitchen sink!

Those are some good ideas.

I have always wanted a balcony off my my bedroom with a view of the ocean.  I would have my coffee maker in the bedroom, with a timer, and wake up and drink my coffee on the balcony every morning.

My ideal house has one, primary feature:  A kitchen and dining room that can be *completely* sealed off from the rest of the house.

As mentioned in another thread, I have a Living Stomach, and I hate having to lock up all the food because she will eat ANYTHING edible, or at least "sample" it.

I like the hidden room. A few years back I saw online i saw a place like that. I called it the adult hidey-hole.  there was a door at the back of the the walk in robe in the master bedroom which led to a big room (it looked they were using it for storage)

One of my favorite property in the area has come back on the market. It's been sitting vacant for at least 2 years or more

I'd be thrilled to have Jennifer Aniston's former home that was showcased in Architectural Digest - http://www.architecturaldigest.com/celebrity-homes/2010/jennifer-aniston-home-slideshow
