Unattended Children Signs
« on: January 07, 2007, 07:17:13 PM »
Hi everybody, I've been lurking for a while, now I'm coming out to share a great sign I saw.  This was at a plant nursury.  It said "Unattended Children will be Feed to Carniverous Plants."  I've also seen a sign saying "Unattended Children will be sold to Slave Traders" and another saying "Unattended Children will be given an Expresso and a Free Puppy."
Have anyone else seen any good signs about unattended children?

I once saw one which read,

"All children left unattended will be turned over to Child Protective Services."

This sign was at a sawmill.

The sign we had hung at the costume shop I managed read, "Children with responsible parents are welcome."

I saw an oddly translated sign in France. It said "Ponds are on the itinerary. Children are under adult's responsibility."
But then you did get the gist, and it's not like we put warning signs in French.

We stuck up a sign in our student union "unattended children will be awarded honorary degrees"

I've seen a lot of similar signs in all sorts of shops and businesses, but that one about the slave traders is over the line.  The more ridiculous the sign, the better, I think....like the one about the espresso and free puppy.

There's a bunch of signs for sale lately at places like Crackerbarrel restaurants that are cute.  My favorite is:

"Don't make me come down there!

   ---God"

 ;)

Hmm, that makes me want to create one for our own office:

"Unattended children will be certified to transport dangerous goods" sounds threatening enough.

I've seen ones that say things along the lines of all unattended children will be given pixie sticks and promised puppies.

Or given objects that make loud noises.

The first one, I saw it, after I had started working in childcare, and it scared me- despite having no children of my own.

Unattended children will be taught to play the comb, and will be given a slide whistle as a present upon departure.

On the underground: "Unattended children will be removed and detonated in a controlled explosion".

Not really, I just made that up :-)

One of my MSN icons reads:

Warning:  Children left unattended will be sold to the circus.

Cracks me up everytime I use it.

I saw a good one at a local llama park (don't ask...)

"Unattended children will be spit at by our llamas
(So will attended ones if they get too close!)"

But I have to say I laughed out loud at one in a toyshop which read "Kids: Please keep your parents under control at all times."

I love the one about All unattended children will be given an espresso and a free puppy.  We have some friends that run our local Hobby Shop and my DH and DS are train freaks.  The owner has this sign up.  DH will frequently go in their and pass some time with the Owner (its ok, it doesn't interfere with business) and DS will go into the back area to play with the Thomas table.  The owner is OK with this because DS is really good and plays and shares well with any other kids.  Well.. that technically means that DS is unattended. I stopped in after doing some Christmas shopping,  DS was playing at the table and DH and owner were talking up front and testing some train engines.  I walked over to the Owner and demanded my puppy (I'm a notorious animal lover).  He was speechless.

Well, while touring a castle in Great Britain, I saw a beautiful yellow-diamond sign that said:

 DANGER
CHILDREN

Does that count?

At a glass shop at a renaissance fair I saw:

Children unattended will be fed to the dragon.
Parents will be billed anything broken and the vet bill for the dragon's upset stomach.

Gosh, I hope you didn't really see one like that.  That'd be extremely cruel.  Funny ones are one thing, but threatening to kill the child is a bit over and above what's needed.  (I'm referring to the "Candy Man"/Pixie Stixs incident where he laced Pixie Stix with poison for those in other countries.)
