Ignoring his text was the best thing to do.  If you would have responded, you would have encouraged further contact from him and based on how you said the relationship ended, I'm pretty sure you didn't want to go there!

I've decided to not reply at all. That is what I wanted to do anyway, but I didn't know if it was rude or not. To be honest, I am curious why he decided to text me out of the blue and after 2 years, but it isn't worth it to me.

Delete and ignore, and don't waste your time wondering "why" he contacted you.  It really doesn't matter.

Considering his behavior when you broke up, politeness from you isn't required.  Be careful....showing up at your door again might be his next move.  I hope not, but just tell him if he doesn't get out you'll call the police.  He sounds like he has a loose screw.

You don't want to get back on that merry-go-round.  BTDT.
