What do you think about this?
« on: August 25, 2013, 10:24:33 AM »
I saw this in Facebook. I think I would have words with my boss if he gave this to me, even as a joke. What would you do?

The last time I said what I was really thinking there was an "intervention".

I would go straight to HR about this.

It isn't funny.  It's misogynistic and homophobic.  The only thing it's missing is racial or ethnic slurs.

This was written by a 'Real Man' who handles differences of opinion like a know-it-all 12 year-old.

This is so offensive it boggles the mind.  Feminization as a way to humiliate males degrades women unbelievably.  Given to a woman, it renders me soeechless. Right to HR, and think kind thoughts of the EEOC and various similar state and local agencies.

After I almost fell out of my chair laughing (I sometimes have a non-PC sense of humor), I thought that this should be taken up with HR rather quickly.

Some parts of this were funny in a non-PC way, but some of it was just stupid, and it's a sure ticket to a meeting with HR.

I thought the first 2 questions could start off funny but the rest are so highly offensive it would be hard to believe the boss wouldn't be fired.

I think it looks better when it is filled out as the official form.

I mean, if you are going to make an offensive report, at least make it look legit!
My inner (r-word) is having a field day with this one.

Now, THAT one is funny!

Otherwise, straight to HR.

The first bit of it was funny, but it quickly degenerated into very offensive territory. I can't imagine receiving this at work, and it would definitely be reported immediately.

This.  Also a sure-fire way to bring negative publicity to your company, if the picture and the company name get linked on social media.

Agreed!  It gets in the same type of jokes without being gendered - it cites "real man/woman" instead of just "real man," and the "reasons" were funny without being feminizing (i.e. insulting for men) or sexist.

Unfortunately, it's probably a lot funnier in the abstract - if I actually was complaining about something, I would be infuriated by someone brushing me off with a form like that  :-\

It could be funny - if you have the right kind of relationship with your boss.

Without that relationship, its obscenely offensive.

It's obscenely offensive anyway. Yes, if a sexist person gave it to another sexist person the recipient may not be personally offended, but the form is nonetheless vile.

The air force one managed to do the same thing without dragging gender stereotypes into it which made it much funnier imo.
"Can't do anything with children, can you?" the woman said.

Poirot thought you could, but forebore to say so.

Good point. It's amusing to read it, right now, when I'm not upset about anything. But were I do actually get it from someone at work, I'd become even more upset.
