Who DOES these things?

Tonight was the BirthControlQueen's birthday dinner since she was out of town for her birthday. I was there along with two of our mutual friends and BCQ's parents. Yup, you guessed it! She brought her birth control pills to the restaurant (a nice restaurant that appeared in the film Sideways) and took one at the table right in front of all of us. She didn't say anything but she russelled the container so loudly that we all noticed. ::)

Who does these things?  People who have a need to be the centre of attention and/or drama queens.  From the way she acts I wonder if she's actually mature enough to be in a relationship, whether or not it requires birth control.

It seems wierd that she felt the need to rattle the container and show everyone what she was doing.  But I don't see anything wrong with descreetly taking a pill in public.  What's the big deal?

How about saying, "Okay...we all know you're having sex.  But we don't need to see your container of birth control pills everywhere we go.  Others of us take care of our contraception needs privately; would you please do so too?"

Making noise so that everyone notices what you are doing is the opposite of discreet.

The BCQ is a "character" from several other threads. She routinely makes a big production out of taking her birth control pills and talks about them constantly.

Discreet being the operative word. Nothing wrong with taking pills in public, but to make a big production out of it, especially in a restaurant, is an etiquette no-no. And you have to consider what kind of pill is being taken. For instance, I really don't think people should broadcast to everyone else that they're taking Viagra.
