Not a question, but a good spine story:
Yesterday toward the end of the workday, I discovered that the clip for my ID badge had broken. Coworker Tara mentioned that the security office has them available. I walked down, found the door closed (it was 4:34, they close at 4:30) and walked back to my office.Tara:
Did you get your clip? Me:
No, they were closedTara:
Well, it's not like you couldn't use the exercise. Me:
(in that tone that says she thinks she's joking) I'm not the only one that's noticed you've gained weight.
My flabber was ghasted. I have, for reference, NOT gained weight and am actively working to lose weight. My feelings were hurt and I was too shocked to respond.
I headed home and took last night to process. Knowing that if I didn't address the problem it would just fester and upset me, I sent Tara the following email this morning:
I need to let you know that your comments about my weight yesterday were both hurtful and inappropriate. My weight is between my doctor and I, and not up for discussion. I'm sure you only meant it as a joke, and now that you know I didn't find it funny I trust it won't come up again.
Thanks for understanding,
Thanks, eHell, for allowing me to politely say, "that's not okay."
