Going-away party
« on: May 24, 2014, 10:43:31 AM »
A senor vice president retired as of Friday at my company.  He'd been there 30 years.  Rather than have the company throw him a fancy going-away party, which he'd certainly earned (he is very well liked), he contributed to (and then the company matched his contribution) an ice cream party for all staff.  They had Baskin-Robbins come in with two carts and two scoopers, plus all the toppings you could want.

This gentleman is truly a class act, and he will be missed.  I hope he enjoys his well-deserved retirement.

Such a refreshing story.  Quite a wonderful change from the usual and customary tales of entitlement and collecting money from all the low paid employees to buy an extravagant gift for the boss, etc.

He sounds like a great guy.  I'm sure he'll be missed.  What a classy way to 'go out'!   :)
