Supermarket find.
« on: January 08, 2007, 09:35:03 AM »
I was in Wal-Mart yesterday, buying groceries.  I always buy store brand Pop Tarts because the name brand ones are too sweet.

Anyways, I noticed they now have Hello Kitty Pop Tarts.

Regular Pop Tarts aren't enough.  Now they've dragged in Hello Kitty.

The end is near.

I saw that the last time I was in there.  I was hungry and almost bought them!

I have to buy Pop-Tarts at the Supercenter, vs. the little Wal-Mart near me, because the little one doesn't have my favorite, the chocolate ones with the vanilla filling.  Yum!

They had Sponge Bob and Ice Age ones a while back too - it's just another marketing tool to get kids to ask their moms to buy the Pop Tarts. It's just like putting a cartoon character on cereal boxes.

Those were always my favorite too, and wouldn't you know - of all the grocery options here, only WalMart carries that flavor!

It's terrifying the number of things Hello Kitty shows up on. Electric guitars, shoes, jewelry, even marital aids! Somehow I'm less disturbed with Pop-Tarts than some of the other list. ;)

Hello Kitty is everywhere. I have trouble going into a store without seeing something that has Hello Kitty on it.

I will be glad when this fad fades.

When I was 16, I had to dress as Hello Kitty for a supermarket promotion.

I'm 37.

Hello Kitty's not going away.  Eep.

My friend has a Hello Kitty toaster. It toasts the bread but leaves an un-toasted Hello Kitty pic in the centre. I think this is better than anything ever.

But Hello Kitty Pop Tarts? Eventhe concept is too sweet to contemplate. I need a filling now.

Marital aids? Hello Kitty? Does.not.compute.

Someday it will. Hello Kitty hasn't been around constantly for 20+ years (though it feels like it). It was resurrected, as were some other 80s icons.

That is the cutest thing ever!!!

I would buy Hello Kitty stuff if I could get away with it.  But my Harry Potter backpack that I take to school (sparkly with a picture of Hedwig on it - I got it at the flea market for $3) is bad enough!

I would acutally buy the pop tarts if they didnt come in like boxes of 12 and nobody but me would eat them. I am a big Hello Kitty fan. Lame I know. But it makes me happy.

I can see how it gets kids to buy it... I bought a box of cereal once because it had Johnny Depp on the box (for Pirates), so those marketers are sure clever huh! I swear it tasted better than the other cereals that didn't have his picture. Really. It did.  :P
