Your Favourite 'Tacky' Christmas Song
« on: December 09, 2013, 11:25:15 AM »
I think we've done this before but without the search feature, I'm starting a new thread.   :D  Someone mentioned 'Christmas Shoes' in another thread and how it makes them want to destroy every copy of it so they never have to hear it again and that made me think of this.

There is a song I hope to hear every year that isn't exactly a classic:  'Snoopy and the Red Baron'.  We used to have an album with that song on it.  If we still have it, my brother's got it.  I'll have to get oldest nephew to pull it out and play it for me.

What's your favourite?
I have CDO.  It is like OCD but with the letters in alphabetical order, as they should be.

It's a tie for me between The Merry Christmas Polka and Dominick the Italian Christmas Donkey.

Polka: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxF_JRhNR3Q
Dominick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQrdxtWgHbE

Although Allan Sherman's 12 Days of Christmas is pretty awesome, too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jOG52PoZs0  ;D

I was just about to come here and post Dominick the Italian Christmas Donkey! I'll listen to that thirty times in a row before one rendition of The Christmas Shoes.

I like the "Christmas Wrapping" song by The Waitresses and I will force the dog (a beagle!) to dance with me around the living room every time I hear "Linus and Lucy".

"The 12 Pains of Christmas" by Bob Rivers' Twisted Christmas.  Actually, almost anything by Bob Rivers.

Every song on the South Park Christmas album (Mr. Hankey's South Park Christmas).  It is the first Christmas album I listen to when the season starts.  It is sheer genius.

Not a "song", per se, but "Santa and His Old Lady" (Cheech and Chong) still makes me giggle.

A comedy piece that salutes the tacky in a more meaningful way is San Freberg's Green Christmas:

The Dragnet Christmas sketches by Freberg are perfect for those of us who watched the original show.

The Chistmas Tree's on Fire. Not sure where I got it - probably as a freebie from Itunes.

Oh my god yes.

Also, someone in the other thread posted Let's Have a Patrick Swayze Christmas, which is magic.

I particularly love "Dead, Dead, Dead"--that song has me laughing hysterically every time!
