There's always Winston Churchill's (admittedly, less existential) non-apology. He once called someone a liar and was pretty strongly pressured to apologise (it was in a parliament setting or something, not just a spat in a pub or anything). He said, "I called my honourable friend a liar it is true and I am sorry for it. Punctuate however you like."
