2014 Resolutions!
« on: December 31, 2013, 01:22:23 PM »
Can't believe no one else has started a thread for this yet! So, what resolutions do you have for the new year? Please-no posts stating you don't do resolutions for whatever reason. I'm just curious about the folks who do make them. Also, are you generally good about keeping your resolutions?

Mine are:

Be healthier overall
Meditate more (probably fits into above category)
Spend more time with my Mom
Clean up my email accounts!
Do more good deeds for others

What about you?

What have you got? Is it food? Is it for me? I want it whatever it is!

I've been wanting to start this thread for days!

Mine are:

Procrastinate less see above  ;)
Be more careful with my finances
Spend my free time more productively
Work on better housekeeping habits
Push myself out of my comfort zone a little more often, as I can be very shy and introverted

I need to cut way down on trash TV/reading.  I don't think it benefits my mood at all.  This includes listening to nothing but pop music, instead of anything more "uplifting".
Exercise, be healthier overall in every way
Get my career going, instead of just "working"
Be financially responsible
Do something about my lack of housekeeping skills.

Organize clothes
Organize files
Organize books
Organize iTunes library
Get my hair situation resolved (don't ask!)
Spend more quality time with dog
Get the house clean enough so I can hire someone to clean it
Plan and carry out long anticipated road trip
Learn to use new camera DH gave me for Christmas
Worry less

mine:
Continue on my weight loss journey. I've lost ~24 lbs in the second half of 2013. Would like to lose ~65 lbs in 2014 which is my ultimate goal.

Run my first 5K in March. train for that in the first quarter of 2014

Clean /declutter/paint the house.

Make my bed every morning

Find a job and move to the US (I've been wanting to and trying to for a long time. This is the year it will happen).

I think that's enough for now

Cut down on time spent on distractions such as internet and TV, which will give me more time for productive stuff.

Manage the 6 classes (17 hours!) I am taking in spring, along with working full time.
Be more active.
Eat 90% of my meals of homemade food and plan better for meals and snacks.
Save money.
Buy a house.
Spend more quality time with my husband and son.

I must be the unhealthiest one to respond so far.  Quit smoking is mine... though not until Monday.  Other than that, going back to getting more protein each day and taking my vitamins is all I want to focus on.  If I can do that, then I'll be healthy enough to want to exercise without needing a resolution, I figure.

Exercise more. I'd like to lose enough weight to be able to wear my wedding set again.
Craft more.
Wear more jewelry. I have lots of pretty things, but I never take the time to put any of it on.
Clean up my sewing room, again. So that I can sew and craft more.

Exercise more.
Drink less.
Eat at home more.
Pay down credit cards.
Don't buy new items unless absolutely necessary (underwear, canning jars, etc.)

Friend of mine does this thing where she picks a word, and tries to live it. One year her word was adventurous. She did awesome things like move out on her own, etc.

I am picking up this tradition. My word is...

Health.

I am going to get back into meditation, and take up exercise, and try to eat healthier.

Get healthier, which includes:

1. Losing weight to decrease stress on my knee (and fit back into a great wardrobe),
2. Not watch TV after midnight to improve sleep patterns,
3. Eat less fast food,
4. Get a regular massage for relaxation.

This might sound like a silly one but I'm going to try and actually watch TV.  No fiddling with my phone or the laptop during a show that actually has a story.  I watch so much TV but I get totally lost with storylines because I'm not paying attention.
