I see payed a lot these days, instead of paid.

I loathe "awesome" to the point I stop my kids from using it.

The word "paleo" makes me want to hurt people. It usually goes hand and hand with "You'd lose weight if you'd eat paleo." I am polite, but inside I'm raging. (I have no problem with people going "paleo" but it's not for everyone (or her budget).)

I'll throw "eat clean" in here with this. It, too, is often used to lecture others, and it refers to a very specific diet and IMO casts aspersions on any other diet that a person might be eating for whatever reason.

I'll throw in "detox" unless it involves someone who is intoxicated by a substance.

And "toxins" when it's used in a pseudoscience context, and "chemicals" when used incorrectly--everything is made out of chemicals, darn it!

Anyone that has to say the word "hashtag" out loud.

If you actually do this, I am sorry, I can't be your friend.  It's for your safety and my track record of staying out of jail.

"Slather" and it's past tense, "Slathered".  That word just sounds icky.

Bingo.  One of the most overused words in the language.  Very few things actually fill one with awe.

Also, and this isn't really a phrase or word; more a habit, I guess.  But I can't stand reading stories where people replace names with initials.  Make up a name.  Use a fake one.  But please, the initials make it all so hard to follow.

And we know, probably even assume most of the time, that the names are fake.  You don't need to put them in quotation marks every time you type them.

Drives me crazy, too.  I've skipped stories with too many initials in them.  I usually take the first initial of the person's name and use a different name with that same letter.  And if it lends itself to it, I just use the letter spelled out.  So Betty would become Bea; Kathy would become Kay; Jack would become Jay; Doris would become Dee.  I can't think of any others off the top of my head but those work for me.
I have CDO.  It is like OCD but with the letters in alphabetical order, as they should be.

The correct phrase is "I could NOT care less".  I could care less makes me want to stab the speaker or writer with a spoon.  >:(

I use this word many times a day.  :P

But...in my defense...

At my job it refers to a very specific budget function and it is a critical part of project management.  :)

And that is the Only context in which I use it. ;D

Am I allowed to stay?  ;)

Oh dear Deity yes.  I may haul off and slap the very next fool who says things like "Did you know there are CHEMICALS in that?"  I'm tired and kind of edgy these days.

Recently I've noticed that some of my friends have started using the word 'hashtag' when they are speaking. Actually saying the word! As in, while we're at a party, someone says #goodtimes! ARG! We are in our FORTIES!! I've said to two of them that I'm close too, that they need to stop, but I thing I'm fighting a losing battle.

Pinning as referring to pinning something on pinterest. Ugh. I hate it.
