Slow cooker inspiration please!


Ehellions. I have pork loin steaks, a bag of mixed frozen winter vegetables (carrots, leeks, onion, swede and turnip) and a slow cooker. I also have the usual herbs - thyme, oregano, mixed herbs etc - in my cupboard and some chicken stock cubes.

What can I make for dinner with this?

I'd toss in the steaks with the veggies, herbs of your choice, enough water to cover the meat and cook on low for at least 8 hours. Maybe longer if they're thick steaks, less if they're thin. Not so sure how the chicken stock would go with that. Once it's done, instead of tossing the water, pour it into a saucepan, heat to boiling then add some cornstarch dissolved in cold water, heat to boiling, take off heat and cool a bit to make gravy.

Pork, veggies, tin of tomatoes, oregano and bayleaves, possibly some stock

I have always read, and do it, that the veges should go on the bottom.

Make sure you don't have it on high for more than an hour.
