I went to Kentucky earlier this month.  So there is a song I knew as a kid:

Going to Kentucky, going to the fair
To see the seņorita with flowers in her hair . . .

That was one of the songs I learned in Girl Scouts! "Shake it, baby, shake it....Shake it to the top....Close your eyes and turn around until we holler Stop!"

Variations from my childhood: "I met a senorita with purple underwear"; "Shake 'er, shake 'er, shake 'er, shake 'er all you can/Shake 'er, shake 'er, shake 'er, shake 'er once again"; "All the boys are watching so do the best you can."

We got shut down by a teacher for playing that particular circle game at recess in second or third grade. I think she considered it too risque.

ETA: Oops, forgot one: "1, 2, 3, 4, shake it up a little more! 5, 6, 7, 8, keep it up, you're doin' great!"

"Let It Go" from Frozen.  Doesn't help that the 2  year old will walk around singing "Wet it go...wet it go..."

We now conduct all kid-related activities to this tune for our 5 & 7 yo.

"Take your bath, take your bath, I'll leave, you can shut the door! I don't care what you're going to say...get in the tuuuuuuuuuub, being wet never bothered you anyway."

This is the song that never ends. It goes on and on my friends! Some people started singing it not knowing what it was, and they'll continue singing it forever just because... (repeat forever)

Lately, I catch myself singing out loud....."oh my darlin', oh my darlin', oh my darlin' Clementine,
you are lost and gone forever, dreadful sorry Clementine...."

I've even changed the words to something to amuse or encourage a grandchild or a student at my school.  ;D

Then there is the song from Sesame Street that I particularly love to sing out loud, proud, and strong (not neccesarily in tune)....
"Sing! sing a song. Sing out loud, sing out strong, ........"

We did a formal concert a few weeks ago and as the person in charge of social media etc I've just got the recordings of it. One of the pieces we played was the Suite of Old American Dances. I've had the 2nd movement, the Schottische, stuck in my head ever since I listened to it. It's wonderful, but not when you wake up humming it at 6 in the morning five days on the trot.

Sew, a needle pulling thread
La, a note to follow Sew
Tea, a drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to Doe!

(why yes, I love The Sound of Music!)

I had lunch at my favorite Thai restaurant yesterday. They had an Asian pop cover of "Your Kiss is On My List," by Hall and Oats playing. It's been stuck in my head ever since.

I've noticed that especially if I'm stressed, I'll get a chunk of whatever song I heard on the radio earlier that day stuck in my head for HOURS. And sometimes it will just be a few lines going round and round, not even an entire verse.

My cure is to sing "Henry the 8th" boisterously until the earworm goes away.  ;D

There's some ridiculous song playing on my radio praising a woman's large hindquarters.

("wiggle, wiggle, wiggle")

The first time I heard it, I thought that novelty songs were returning to Top 40.

("wiggle, wiggle, wiggle")

Then I thought that if the singers weren't delibrately making a comedy record, then they were being pretty offensive, especially since part of the verse has to blanked out on broadcast radio, due to the description by one singer of what he would like to do with that part of the woman's anatomy.

("wiggle, wiggle, wiggle")

Unfortunately, the chorus gets stuck in my mind at odd times.

("wiggle, wiggle, wiggle")

I think the song is named "Wiggle."

("wiggle, wiggle, wiggle")

At least I have a nice song stuck in my head:

"Count the moons that pass between the time it takes to see
The prettiest girl that I adore saving her arms for me.
This unredeemed soul of mine was flooded by the night;
I got saved by a gentle soul and the floods recede and dry."
