Oh, what an appropriate time for this subject to come up!
I have a friend who moved 1000 miles away from where I live, a couple of years ago. For some odd reason, she feels that she has to call me on a regular basis to tell me about MY weather!! News, too. The problem is, I live in a very big metro area, about halfway between City A and City B, and while I work in City B, she has to call to tell me about what's going on in City A! But here's where it became a huge problem. We had a storm coming, but so far I'd heard nothing, so I went to bed at my usual time. I was nearly asleep when my phone buzzed with a text. Now, I have an elderly father and a niece in delicate health, so after-hours phone calls and texts are naturally very worrying for me. I panicked, woke up, and found out my friend was just telling me about the results of the weather in City A. (closed). I never really got back to a good sleep after that, and found out around midnight that where I work in City B was closed also. But I was annoyed and exhausted and when she called the next morning, I reamed her out and told her that we had news and weather up here, too, and were quite civilized and I didn't need her reports. Yes, I was yelling, and she hung up on me. We haven't talked since. I'm afraid that I'm still very steamed about it, even after 4 days. I did text her to apologize for yelling at her, but I told her I was still angry.
