Teacher appreciation week. Food for 15
« on: May 07, 2014, 10:43:45 PM »
I ordered deli trays.  I ordered several trays that feed 8-12.

Deviled egg tray
Meat and cheese tray
fruit tray
veggie and dip tray
A finishing touches tray, which is lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and banana pepper rings.
40 small rolls

I will also get 2 bags of chips

They have drinks and dessert.

Is that enough?

It should be plenty.  You might want to throw a couple of cold pasta salads in there as fillers if you have hearty eaters.

Agree.  I would put some kind of pasta or bread type thing in there, just as a filler.

looks great - i personally like to add a few spreads (hummus, guacamole, etc) but otherwise it looks great. (not a fan of pasta salads)

Is this for kids or adults? If the trays are advertised of feeding 8-12 and you have 15 people there, I would be worried that there wouldn't be enough meat and cheese. I could see there being a meat shortage. Unless you have a number of vegetarians coming, but even then, they might eat alot of the cheese...

A lunch of a sandwich, fruit, veggies & dip, and chips is pretty typical of our working lunch meetings. Getting deviled eggs and dessert is a bonus. I think your fine.

Its 15 teachers.  I asked my son,  today were box lunches from take out somewhere.  I was told there were no dietary restrictions.  I did ask that.

I teach at a school with 14 staff and what you are proposing would be a great lunch and enough to feed us.  If I would do anything, I would cut down on the number of rolls that you have. 2 rolls per person would be more than enough.  I would skip the salads--the rest can be eaten without the need for silverware and when we get pasta salads brought in with a lunch, they really don't get eaten.  Maybe add salsa and chips.

I think your meat and cheese tray should feed at least 15-20 since there are 15 people that you know of. if everyone makes a sandwich you will run out.

I agree with this, especially since you have 40 rolls. What will people do with plain rolls?

It ended up there was plenty of food, I haven't heard otherwise.  I was really surprised that I was supposed to feed 15 teachers and saw the office staff, principal and security guard eating too.  Had I know that I would have taken in more food.

Edited to add.

All the trays looked plenty big to serve 12 plus.  I saw one teacher that made a salad out of the finishing touches and had a roll.

Most trays give 12 good sized servings.  When you are serving multiple trays of food items, the trays will go much farther.
