Words That Make You Stabby
« on: July 10, 2014, 03:33:38 AM »
Ok so what everyday word makes you suddenly feel horrible? Mine is moist.  It's horrible to write and even more horrible to say.  The actual word just sounds...ugh to me.

What are yours??

Not sure I have any but a friend cannot abide the following:

Moisten
Condiment
Beverage
Refreshments

I think there are a few more.

I'm sure I'll remember more later, but two of my biggest ones are "snack" and "meal".

I hate"meal" as well! Also, "tasty". Not sure why food words are like that for me, but a lot of them are.

I also really dislike "slacks" for pants. It just conjures up a weird mental image for me.

Mine is "chillax". I detest that word, every time I hear it I want to scratch someone's eyes out (preferably the person who just said it). *sticks evil catwhiskers back under the bed*

Feels.   As in, "That movie really hit me in the feels."

Just.. no.

Mine is a short phrase- "reach out to" or "reached out to". The news media seems fond of using that lately & it just makes my left eye twitch.

Finally!  Someone who understands as I do that this is the ickiest of words.  Makes me flinch whenever I hear it.

Empower.  Sounds condescending to me.

And I so agree about panties sounding icky.  I thought it was just me.

Unfortunately, I'm beginning to find "stabby" itself rather annoying.
