*I* certainly wouldn't want that cake (no way, no how), but if the GOH finds it funny, it's none of my business. It's tacky, but it's not harming anyone.

I belong to a lot of cake decorating groups on FB.  I'm amazed at the number of inappropriate cakes I see (including ones like hers), and people don't think anything of them (there was one crowning baby bump cake complete with red fluid-like decorations where the baby was crowning; I thought it was pretty gross).  It's definitely a "know your audience" thing.

Eww.
If wisdom’s ways you wisely seek,
Five things observe with care,
To whom you speak,
Of whom you speak,
And how, and when, and where.

I think it is gross, but to each his own.  As long as all of her guests thought it was funny, what we think doesn't matter.

I also had no idea that she was pregnant or engaged.

She's pregnant again?

...and having a shower for Baby #2?  Now that's almost as tacky as the cake.

It is a different father though, if that matters.

I know if it was a first child for the mother but a second or later child for the father everyone would be ok with a shower - is that a double standard we should take into consideration?

I figured that's why they made it coed -- because it was to include the father whose first child this may be.  SIL had a baby shower for her 2nd child, but the child is BIL's first.  With that in mind, I put together the gift with BIL in mind (which doesn't mean SIL couldn't use it as it was diaper bag full of diaper bag supplies -- I just selected a daddy diaper bag).

Ick, ick, ick!  I remember watching a show where Chef Duff Goldman was a guest and they talked about cakes like this.  He said there is no amount of money his bakery will take to make a cake like that.  They've forbidden them.

I think it's funny.  It's obviously not everyone's cup of tea, but I can totally see one of my friend's doing that for the sake of a good laugh, and laugh we would.  I would eat it, too; it's just food after all.

I agree, I think it's hilarious.

I'd prefer that to the regular cakes at showers.  However, I like naughty and babies aren't my thing.
