Trimming quote trees
« on: August 08, 2014, 09:59:59 PM »
Lately, I've been seeing a lot of posts where several entire posts are quoted (and not short ones!), forcing me to scroll down past a giant quote tree. It becomes annoying, especially when the new response is only one sentence!

I checked the rules, and there is nothing about it. Would it be inappropriate. when I see this, to ask a Mod to request that we trim our quotes?

Thank you!
For in the fatness of these pursy times
Virtue itself of vice must pardon beg,
Yea, curb and woo for leave to do him good.
     Hamlet, Act 3, scene 4, lines 144-146
       (Pursy: wheezing)

I do it. As long as I make sure I am cutting and including the correct poster, I think it is fine. It makes it easier on me as a reader.

Some people bold the parts they are referring to. That works for me as a reader, too.

The thing is to check the Preview to make sure the post makes sense.
