As far as Star Wars goes, I’m almost finished with the prototype of my custom Sith Lord outfit for Celebration IV. After that’s done I’m considering a Revan or Scout trooper outfit. . Haven’t decided which yet. Someday I plan on making a Darth Talon costume as well. . .hehe. . My fiance is working on a custom Jedi outfit, and he wants to go for a Imperial Naval Officer after that. (Our custom costumes we’re working on are for some fan films we want to put together at some point in the future, so we can‘t join the 501st with them. *sniffles* )

I am so envious that you and he are doing that together - DH is mundane to the max.  But he buys me toys and doesn't mind when he has to drive my car with the LDYJEDI license plates.

Oh, how cool!  My ex (Old #1) is a member of the 501st too; he loves it.  (We're still really good friends and keep in touch.)

I'm glad we have so many geeks here.  Makes me feel a little less different and strange.  ;)

LOL!  I wonder how many of us there are.  I get told quite often that people are surprised by what they call my 'other life' - right up until they come into my home and see my Darth Tater and Mace Windu M&M and Death Star on my desk.

I'm always surprised how many others I seem to run into.:) Fiance's dorm held a costume party before Halloween and another couple showed up as a Sith and a Jedi so we and one of friends spent the rest of the party hanging out with them and borrowing their lightsabers for photos. ^_^ Nothing says cool like a pirate and a monk lightsaber fighting. . . .

Completely random tangent, but the honors course that my university decided to give me (I was one of the students who was part of their test pre-enrollment type program) for last semester was Cultural Diveristy. Our final project was to write a 10 to 12 page paper and presentation over a cultural group. My professor loved mine over geeks and Star Wars nerds in particular as he's a big Star Trek fan. :D I think that explains my A on that report honestly. . .

I was an avid Masquerade player years ago, did my share of Dungeons and Dragons also. I kind of outgrew it a bit (we all know that one person who games WAY too much!) but I used to love it. I even had a Clan Toreador t-shirt that I wore to rags....

Auntie Venom, you are like my long lost sister!   ;D

I too played Vampire: The Masquerade......I think I still have a Tremere Clanbook lying around here somewhere.......

HAHAHAHA!! After I posted that yesterday I was looking for a book in the shelves and found my Masquerade gaming manual...complete with my notes in it...good lord.....
I have finally found the bar I can't get thrown out of....

I played D and D back in the day. And Shadowrun (kinda a futuristic D and D where you Can just use normal dice - I refuse to call them D6!)

My friend was a member of the Sealed Knot (British civil war reenactment.) In fact, her ex chatted her up by saying "I could see you as a musketeer".

I'm an avid D&D player -- DH and I have been involved with Living Greyhawk for a couple of years now, and play just about every week.  And I have developed a serious dice addiction ;)

We also enjoy dressing up for ren faires.  I'm hoping to put together a nice pirate outfit, but the price is a bit hefty for the things I want.  I have a fabulous set of fairy wings hanging on my bedroom wall at home until I can find someone who can figure out how to attach them to a corset or bodice so they stay on (they are tie on and they tilt and droop far too much to actually wear anywhere :(

I don't sew, at all, I would love to learn but there are not enough hours in a day for me to do everything I want to do.

Now I half wonder if I know him.  There are something like 3,000 of us worldwide right now, and depending on which conventions or events he's been to, there's a chance he may be somebody either I or my hubby know.

It sounds like they are just soft fabric, which will droop too much and not look as nice as they should. Could you maybe discretely insert wire or plastic rods in the centre of the wings, like the wires in a bra? This would make them stand up better. Other than that, you would need to attach them to a harness, but that would be more noticeable.

Now I have a hankering to make some of my own, or failing that, to redo my bat wings ;D. If we ever have an Ehell costume party, I am soooo coming!!

They are wire framed, butterfly shaped, with irridescent fabric stretched between.  So they are a little heavy, especially when tied on and they have an unsettling tendency to go sideways.  Which just looks silly.  I had showed them to someone once who is a bit of a seamstress and she agreed that fitting them to a corset or bodice would be the best way to go.  But she dropped out of my group of friends before we could do anything about it, and I don't know anyone else who sews well enough to help me with it.

Ahh, the joys of RPing. *G* I still actively play in the White Wolf world. Vampire and Werewolf and Changeling and Mage and...anyways. *L* Everything, really. At least everything World of Darkness. I'm also a D and D player, though our game is on temporary hiatus due to changing job situations amongst our players. I've played Shadowrun, Rifts, Deadlands, and a few other systems here and there. Maybe one day I'll stop, maybe I'll pretend I'm a pooka until I'm 84. *G* Who knows.

I used to. Then life got in the way.  I played D&D in college and was active in the SCA as well.

DH wasn't into them, but he didn't mind that I did them, but when we started having kids I didn't really have time for it any more.

I do go to Renaissance Fairs in garb. I am looking at getting back into SCA.

Hmmm, I think you would have to hand-sew the centre and at least 6-8 inches of the inside edges to the bodice in a kind of X shape... probably with fishing line so it would be really sturdy and not too noticeable. I think, if I'm not mistaken, the wires would stay straight up that way...
But it's kind of hard to say without seeing them. That kind of fabric can be tricky, and you wouldn't want to ruin them! Is there a fabric or craft shop near you? They might have someone on staff who would know.

DD RPs in a few groups, too.  I've got some great shots of her in Jedi garb, as well as some merc outfits when she was younger.  Now it's all the anime... help me ;)

Wow. Old school cosplay  ;D

I'm more into anime cosplay and lolita, though I haven't had the time or money to actually be able to do either of them right now.
I would like to dress up as video game characters. I love Final Fantasy.
