Bad business.....
« on: January 09, 2007, 01:46:52 PM »
Okay, maybe I just need to vent.  It has been days and I am still upset about this. (I did post under bad business on the EHell web page..).  We just bought a 'new' house and moved.  The previous owners took their stove and fridge, we left ours as part of the sale of our home.

Weeks prior to the move, we bought from a well known appliance store a stove, fridge, and tv.  They were suppose to be delivered last Friday, the day of our move.  When they were late, I callled, twice (half an hour after the delivery time window was up, then 2 hours later) and was told both times that the delivery people were running late but would be there.  They NEVER came and did not call.  So I call again on Saturday.  They then explain that the delivery truck broke down.  Okay, I understand these things happen but why didn't they call the customers who were waiting?  Then they rescheduled delivery, for WEDNESDAY! The truck was going to be in my area the next day (Sunday) but as it was full, too bad, anyone expecting a delivery on Friday had to wait. I explain we have NO fridge, no way to keep food cold, we had to take our food out of our old fridge (or pay a few hundred to keep it there until we get our new fridge) and eat out a few times (expenses we had not planned on).  Too bad for us.  And after trying to get some compensation for our unexpected expenses (after arguing with them that they should compensate something), we will get only a $75 gift card to a store I now HATE.  To order new applicances (the fridge was an odd size) would take more time and delay delivery even more.

Warning to all, this store does NOT have 'The good life at a great price.'  One woman told me that she bought a Borche stove from the same store, installation was to be included but the delivery people refused to install, just dropped it off claiming they had no tools and she should call a plumber to install it.  This lady also had a fridge from the same store, it was making a sound "like a woodpecker".  When the repair person from the store came out, he told her "Didn't you read your owner's manual?  It will make funny noises"

I am so sorry!  The fact that they didn't call when 30 minutes late is bad, but cancelling your delivery and not calling is unacceptable!

Try selling the gift card on EBay.  You can probably get $60- $65 dollars for it.  That might be better than having to actually use it.

Another poster suggested www.giftcardbuyback.com last week when DH and I got two $50 gift cards to a store we don't shop at for ethical reasons.  I haven't gotten my check yet (they say to allow 10 days), but it seems like they pay you about $0.80 cash on the dollar (varies by store), and their sister site www.giftcardsagain.com resells them for about $0.90 on the dollar.  Maybe worth a look?
