E-mail resume response

This is the e-mail I send out acknowledging receipt of someone's e-mailed resume:

Applicant's Name,

Thank you for your interest in Company Name.  Your resume is currently being reviewed.  If we have any questions, we will be in touch.

Thanks again,

My Name
My Title
My Company

If you got this e-mail would you feel appropriately acknowleged and not brushed off?

I'd figure it was a form letter, and hope that I wasn't being brushed off.  It certainly doesn't convey much interest, however.

I absolutely agree with platys.  I'd think it was their generic form letter and hope they follow up appropriately.

I use an E-mail that reads more or less the same way for resumes that get submitted to my own company.

As an applicant, I'd only feel brushed off if there was no follow-up.

I don't necessarily see this as a brush off.  I think that they are being considerate in letting each applicant know that their resume has been received.  This is smart on their part as it saves them from having to field 50 phone calls from applicants wanting to know if their resume has been received.  It could also save them from having to have 42 uncomfortable conversations with those applicants that aren't a match for the job.

I think this is fine. It seems about the same as the letter that gets mailed with similar wording. As long as their is follow-up with either a letter saying the position has been filled or a call back for interview I think it's okay.

I was a tech recruiter in my past life, and we used this same type of response.  It at least lets the applicant know his/her resume was received.

Excellent, thank you all for your feedback.  It really is just a form response to let applicants know that they haven't been filtered out as spam.  I've been worried lately, (as I've been typing it a lot this week) that it felt too much like "Thanks for your resume, it's being circular filed." and I didn't want that.

You weren't being brushed off. It's just part of how things are done today regarding submitting applications via email.

I wouldn't mind at all; I got a lot of these when I was looking for work. It was nice to know that they got it, so I didn't have to resend it.

What bugged me, if I hadn't heard anything after an actual interview, was that sometimes no one had any answer for me when I followed up, or never bothered to let me know that the position had been filled.  Even a postcard would have been nice.  I usually checked back twice and then gave up if I didn't hear anything.  That's the only time I felt brushed off.

It might be good if you can include a time frame within they can hope to hear some kind of response...or will you be sending them a positive or negative response no matter the outcome?
