To expand on my earlier post:

To the OP,

Have a simple computer set up with a digital camera and take photos of customers in the frames they are selecting.  That way, the ones who really can't get a clear view would be able to look at the photos with their current glasses on and be much more confident in their choices.

With the new technology, it wouldn't be too expensive or too time-consuming.  If the customer wanted to, they could even bring in a disc to download them on to take home for further consideration.

I have to confess.....this was DH's idea.
It's not what we gather along the way that matters.  It's what we scatter.

maybe it could even be set up so that the staff doesn't have to do anything

can a web cam be set up so that it can take a still capture?  if so, set up a computer at a desk in the office, and costomers can sit down and put on the frames themselves and click a button to "freze frame" and look at themselves in new specs.

That might even be doable with an "old" system (you know the person who has to have the latest and greatest - always - seems to have one laying around that is just "to slow" or what have you)

I always try on and select my glasses before I go into the exam.

This is a GOOD idea! I've never even looked at glasses in my doctor's office because I can't see that well when I come out with my eyes still dilated.

Honestly? For me, having staff that are pleasant and get me into my appointment on time are the biggest draw to a medical office. The doctor should be competent; the nurses and the office staff should be able to let me know what information they need and when they need it, and when I need to be there.

For folks who sell glasses, having the glasses be the correct prescription and not with misapplied coatings or frames that fall apart are another big draw for me.

I really don't care about contests, newsletters, and the like. If I could get normal basic competency in the rest of the process, I'd be more than delighted. I'm going to switch optometry places the next time I need glasses becuase of their consistent rude and uncaring manner whenever I go there, like the woman who snorted when I suggested I might like to pay for my glasses now please.
