I totally agree with who are raised with no expectation of learning how to clean up after themselves, or put things away, or just do age-appropriate chores in general, are the ones who grow up and become the adults no one wants to live with.  (They're the ones I always want to ask "were you raised by wolves?")  This is another way to approach MIL with the idea of getting her to change her own behavior. 

While I can understand wanting to be "Grandma" and never having to do the tiresome parenting work, if you're looking after the child all day you don't get to just endlessly spoil him or her.  At least, *I* wouldn't.
