Then again, I've been going to my stylist for years now.  And he knows I understand color.  I've always asked.  So it's nothing "out of the blue" for me to be curious about what he's doing next.

it's an aveda salon so they have to use aveda colors and sometimes she does tell me the colors especially when people around her ask. I'll just say "my friend goes to "insert another aveda salon here" and she loves my color, what are the numbers so I can tell her?"

it's an aveda salon

It all makes sense now... the one I just had the deposit request from is also an Aveda salon. I guess this is a new Aveda policy? Aveda has really gone down hill, imo, over the past few years. Guess they can kiss my 20 years' worth of business goodbye.  :(

Good luck with your app't. I hope you can get your color info.

Perhaps Aveda is under the impression that requiring deposits will elevate their status to that of the "finer" salons, some of which probably do require deposits to hold an appointment.

I happen to believe that there are enough salons in this world, and enough good hairdressers (some of whom are stuck at "lowly" salons, their fabulousness yet to be discovered) that finding one that doesn't insult its customers in this way is simply a matter of asking around, or picking up the yellow pages.

I would not only switch salons, After a yyear I would send the salon owner a letter explaining why I had left and I might even mention that in a years time they had lost out on x appointments from me, totalling Y dollars. If I were the boss that would make me reevaluate my strategy and talk to my employees.
