:Kids everywhere even when timing or situation is odd

Not my first post here, but first post in ages under new name.

My question has to do with those who bring their kids  everywhere even when it might be better not to.  Example: home parties that are typically a girls night out thing where  kids scream while hostess gives presentations, taking kids to see sick people "because kids make EVERYONE feel better" with no warning or taking kids to bridal showers with naughty themes (known ahead of time).  Where do you draw the line and leave the kids home?

mrsbrandt:
I think people should draw the line at whether or not their kid was actually invited.  Or whether or not other people will be bringing their children if it's an event without a host.  I don't normally bring my toddler to weddings/showers and never to girls' night outs.  I could see bringing an infant with me, if the host had okayed it though - but I always make sure I check first.

I personally feel children should not leave the house until they are 18.  ;D

Seriously, mothers need to get over it. If left with a family member or neighbor, they will be FINE!

My BF and I are friends with a couple who are married and have a 1 year old. We never see them together because she just CAN'T leave she precious baby!!! Um, actually you can... get over it!

123bees:
Most hosts this person has done this to know to specify after, but I am always shocked when an event that really should go without having to be specifically billed as an adult one has to be!  Cocktail parties, for instance (she is usually the dd).  I guess sometimes you just have to spell it out.

mrsbrandt:
SillySquirrel you can't really fault her for not leaving the house, that's her unwise choice and there is nothing rude or against etiquette about that.  Atleast she's smart enough to not bring the baby with her to places that a baby shouldn't be.  FWIW not everyone has relatives/neighbors that they would trust to watch their infant.
