When you turn the computer on under my screen it barks "KEEP AWAY! THE SOW IS MINE!"

Oooh... maybe we should add some posts about the SOUNDS on our computers!!

I've had the same start up and shutdown sounds for about two years.

On startup, an old-style Cylon says, "SCAN FOR IDENTIFICATION!"
while on shutdown the computer voice from Star Trek TNG says, "Auto shutdown sequence in progress." Very apt, heh.

My brother's shouts "GOOOOD MOOOOORNING VIETNAM!!" ala Robin Williams. When you shut down my Dad's it says "Dave...what are you doing Dave?" ala HAL.

Mine just has standard computer sounds.  I hate sudden sounds on computers, so I never put anything into my startup folder.

I configued my mail program (not Outlook) to say, "There is a message for you," which is a .wav file from 2001. And every time it says that I always reply, "Thank you, HAL."

Me too, especially those horrible Windows 'click' sounds. Argh!! The only sounds I have enabled on mine are startup, shutdown, mail and empty recycle bin - which is Sark from the movie Tron going, "We have erased that program!!"

I'm so sad, I know.

My shutdown sound is a clip from Porky Pig singing Blue Christmas.  "Oh, b-b-b-baby, I'll m-m-m-miss you!" and then there's laughter in the background, and a kazoo solo!   

I'm crazy that way!

Hahaha, for Startup I have Piccolo saying "Boot camp is about to begin!" and for shutdown it's Sesshoumaru saying "This is the end for you." And my default sound is a Godzilla roar :p
