Well, I think it would be cool if more kids came in my library.  Or even just more people <sigh>

I would write even more a thank you, but Kitty Such is clawing at my nightgown, telling me to get off that evil box thingie, pet her and go to bed.  (Nothing like having a cat claw your thigh to make you realize you are whining too much!)
May I just jump on this statement and say how nice it is to see someone else who probably wears tiny puncture scars all over her thighs and understands why DH I and joke daily about wanting Kevlar pants?

Unsupervised children ... gives me chills.

Kathrynne,

I don't just have lots of tiny puncture wounds.  When Kitty Such is peeved, she tries to remove the flesh from my body. ;D  Two minutes later, she is bumping her head against my ankle and begging to be cuddled, coddled and cooed over.  I know the all knowing "they" have agreed that there is such a thing as feline alzheimer's disease.  I'm beginning to wonder if there is such a thing as kitty bi-polar disorder!  LOVE the idea of Kevlar pants.

On the other hand--I will take KittySuch's scratching and punctures over some of the kids I see on a daily basis.  Yeeks!

I've known quite a few bipolar kitties and, at the risk of sounding racist, they've all been Persians.

"Love me! Love me! Mrrrrroooow! HSSSSSSSSSsssss!"

Our old Persian, Fluffernutter, was not only a PsychoKitty but she had lightning-fast pawsnclaws that were razor-sharp. You didn't realize you'd been nailed until the welt started to bleed.

The truly unfortunate thing about Kevlar is that it wouldn't protect against claws, or so I learned at a sheriff's department open house last summer. It doesn't protect against knives (which I've expanded to claws) because the sharp point doesn't involve enough threads to engage its protective properties. A bullet, otoh, apparently hits enough surface area to do so. I hope that made sense.

We still like the Kevlar reference and will NOT give it up.

To help on the kitty "racism".. it's more often the "calico's" that are bi-polar... growing up my Mom was a cat irresponsible parent of the human variety and I've been exposed to many, many breeds of cats.  We always used to call the calico's the "multiple personality cat".. they don't make good show cat's because they're mood swings are worse than a pregnant woman without chocolate!

Whoa!  Pryncess, you may have hit something there.  Kitty Such is a tortoise shell.  I wonder if that's close enough to being a calico???

Tortishell and calico's are the same thing.  Calico is a more comon name for the color gene, though the "irresponsible parent of the human variety world" tends to call them "tortie's"... this bi-polar issue has aslo been commonly noted as a "tortie-tude".

Another bit of info, some people call them "money cats".. but a true money cat is a male calico, extremely rare and actually a genetic defect.  At one time people thought they were worth money because of their rarity.  If a irresponsible parent of the human variety happens to get one, no, they don't sell it, they'll often "pet it out" to a private home.  They can't be shown and can't be breed due to the defect and can have severe health problems often not living beyond birth.

I may not know a lot about life, but when it come's to cats, it's actually scary how much stupid info I've got! lol.

It's male torties that are rare.  *g*  Calicos have white on them, is the only difference.
