Actually, I myself didn't comment on that, although others did.  To bring it back to target, I said the man in front of you driving slowly was not being rude for doing so, and that if you speed you can't call him out for it.  Whether it's rude to speed I'll leave to others to comment.

Actually, it is in fact illegal.  "Keep right except to pass" isn't a suggestion (at least not in the states I've held a driver's license in), and driving in the left lane without overtaking can get you ticketed.

I'm not going to jump all over the OP. I can relate. Here in Florida, people can drive until they're 150 (seems that way, at least). You'll have the Lincolns, Caddies, Buicks (it's an AARP law that they buy really huge sedans), going way below the speed limit, even in the passing lane.

I have seen these drivers swerving over the line, stopping continuously to look for a street, and once a lady even slowly drifted off the road into some bushes (no, she didn't have a medical condition - she was fine). Some older drivers are fine - others are just not safe. And of course dangerous/rude drivers can be any age. We just happen to have more retirees than most places and the subsequent challenges that accompany that population.

Thank you!  Our speed limit is 65 mph and there is nothing more annoying than someone who passes a sign stating that and continues to do 55 in the passing lane.   It's illegal for me to pass them on the right.  Usually after 4 or 5 cars have passed them and cut back over they get a clue.

My son was in a situation where he was transported between two schools during the day.

This school was near a community college where they taught truck driving.  The school bus would always get stuck behind semis...driving....very.....slow.....

Annoying, yes.  But, in your case, I think I'd rather my son be caught behind slowly driven semis with inexperienced people behind the wheel than ones being driven recklessly by these same people.

I don't think I want a learning person to be going all that fast in a semi.  I'd much rather they take their time and make sure they're dotting every "i" and crossing every "t" behind that wheel.

And, I'm a bit bothered by the glee attitude that someone is doing so knowingly and without regard for what could happen because of it.

I'm trying very hard not to be snarky here, because this is an honest question.  Where do you see glee?  I see an admittance of contribution, and acknowledgement that the world and the person aren't always perfect.

I'm surprised that no one here has been able to respond to the question without attacking the OP.  The question wasn't about her driving skill, regardless of whether anyone here considers them good or bad.  The question was if the other driver was rude.  It's possible to say that he wasn't (or was) without attacking the OP.

Please show me where I "attacked" the OP.  I don't recall attacking her at all.

As someone who had three vehicular misadventures in eight weeks, I know how the 22-mph driver feels.  However, it's possible he could have been cited for obstructing traffic, if the police had observed it.

I have just started driving without my throat being clenched up all the time, but my mouth is still quite dry at times and for the first few weeks, everything was going too fast and coming too close to the car.  I forced myself to go the speed limit, and pulled off two or three times when I saw cars behind me.   On winding roads, however, there isn't always a safe place to pull over.  You wouldn't want to come around a blind corner and  see a car, pulled over but not off the road, because there's no real shoulder there..

The road to my job is crooked as a snake's back, and it's snowing again tomorrow. (Big sigh)

IMHO, going too fast and too slow are the same as far as being dangerous to others.  No offense to the OP, but you can't really get mad at someone for going under the speed limit when you aren't following the law either.

As for the cop ticketing the driver going 22, it is far more likely that our low flying OP will pull a ticket for exceeding the speed limit on twisty country roads.

Having an uncle who is a cop, I know that he always made sure to pull over drivers who were unreasonably below the speed limit. In this case Im fairly certain he would have pulled over the slow poke not the OP. (I am making the assumption that OP was not speeding up to within inches of slow poke's bumper and laying on the horn or weaving back and forth trying to "get around" or any other unduly dangerous activity)

My apologies.  I got caught up and exaggerated.  Rereading, I was wrong.

edited because I should have said it this way.  I'm sorry.

I'm more annoyed at the people who pick the centre or left-hand lane of a multilane highway to mosy along at 5 - 10 miles below, when they have a perfectly suitable right-hand lane to use.

I agree. I am annoyed by this but it is not rude or illegal to do this.

At times like this tell myself, "patience is a virtue now get some".

Actually, I believe in most states it's considered a traffic hazard to be in the fast lane and going under the posted speed-limit. And it's absolutely rude - the middle and left lanes are for long-traveling and passing traffic, respectively. Slow-moving traffic (the speed limit or under, at least in AZ) is expected - and sometimes reminded with signage - to remain in the far right, or "slow" lane.
