When I lived in Iowa, I had a neighbor (Sue) who adopted 3 children. I'm just specifying that because it may be relevant that these were older children and planned for. Or it may not be relevant.
Anyways, I knew her for a good 16 years and only saw her with a boyfriend once.
Actually she was engaged to this guy. I never saw the guy before and all of a sudden they're engaged.
Around that time, he built an addition on her house. I used to walk by there all the time and there he was, hammering away. I used to see him on the bus and wonder if he couldn't drive or was just poor. Sue had an engagement ring that was huge, but it could have been fake. Who knows?
Anyways, after the addition was finished, I never saw the boyfriend again.
As a matter of fact, I never saw her with any other guy ever again. In 16 years!
Is that strange or what?
