Anyone here a fan?
I've just recently watched Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle and thought they were wonderful!
I'd love to know anyones' favourites and recommendations.
I plan to get My Neighbour Totoro next!

I loooved My neighbor Totoro!!! It was fantastic! ;D ;D ;D

I saw the trailer for Spirited Away ages ago, and it looked really good too, but I haven't had a chance to see it. I didn't realise these two were from the same studio. I will have to check and see what other films they have.
You are only young once. After that you have to think up some other excuse.

Yeah, there was a leaflet tucked inside the box with a load of films by that studio on it.
It sounds like I will enjoy My Neighbour Totoro - yay!
I highly recommend Spirited Away, it's funny and imaginative and quite poignant too  ;D

I've just recently fallen in love with Howl's Moving Castle. I'm kicking myself I didn't see it in the theatre. Looking forward to discovering their other movies.

Also, is it just me, or is Howl himself pretty darn tasty?  ;D

I'm going to butcher the name, so I apoligize now, and I'm not sure if it's from the same place but....
Princess Monenokie is a very good movie too, but it's bloody, so be prepared.

Yup, according to my handy little leaflet, Princess Mononoke (you were almost right!) is indeed by the same people. Thanks for the recommendation!

I double checked their website and saw that Kiki's Delivery Service is also from them, and that is a very cute movie.  You might like that one also.

Ooo! Mr Cellardoor and I are huge fans!

Spirited Away is by far the best though I really liked Howl's Moving Castle as well.

(DH enjoyed Princess Mononoke more but it was a bit bloody and sad for me.)

Kiki's Delivery Service is ok but I felt it was more geared to children than adults.

OT: I've been into Manga (Japanimation) for years and years (since Robotech: Macross) but Mr Cellardoor has just gotten into it. So we have been watching ALOT lately  :)

Not only am I a fan, but my boss, who otherwise hates manga and only buys it because our patrons demand it, just absolutely lurves ghibli and all they do.

Spirited Away is probably my favorite, but I also adore The Cat Returns and Whisper of the Heart.  I heard a frightening rumor that Miyazaki is retiring?  Please say no.

I'm afraid I have no idea about that, I've really only just got 'into it' after a friend's recommendation!
Here's a question: do people tend to watch the subtitled version, or the one dubbed into English? I've watched Spirited Away both ways and enjoyed equally much!

Depends

DH enjoys everything in English and I like the sub-titles.

We recently watched a Manga movies which was done in both English/Japanese, that I though was cool.

Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle are my favorites. I also like Kiki's Delivery Service quite a lot. I never quite got into Princess Mononoke, and I found My Neighbor Totoro to be too strange; you'll see why when you watch it ;)

Make sure you check out Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind -- it's one of his older movies, but it's another one of my favorites.

Twik - yay! Seriously though, I wished I was Sophie being swept off my feet! Why on earth I am drooling over a cartoon character I have no idea, but hey, if I'm not alone, I don't care!  ;D
