When I moved into my new apartment, I told my Mom (who was helping me move and unpack) that I wanted a "junk drawer."  She said, "You don't need to designate a junk drawer.  You need to just keep everything organized, so you don't need one."  I told her, "Mom, one of the drawers is going to end up being a "catch-all" junk drawer.  I can either designate one to begin with or have several "half" ones filled with all kinds of stuff later."

She finally came around to my way of thinking after a bit of consideration of the matter!
