Got sidetracked and didn't answer the orignal question.

I lived on Adak for several years, it's a little island in the Aleutian chain in Alaska.  I am very un-original and can never think of good usernames.  I often just use Adak, but that was taken on Delphooey so I just added AK to the end.

My Delphooey name was audesapere06, which is gender-neutral. I got sick of having to tell people my gender (my first name also being gender neutral). I'm a classics major, so I chose something Greek this go.

To actually answer, Lysitheia was one of Zeus's amours.

Lily Such is a character in a novel I am trying to write in what is jokingly called my "spare" time...sadly, Lily's adventures haven't progressed much...I chose her name for my nickname because a) she's a curmudgeonly teen b) I am an immature curmudgeon and c) we both like manga and scary movies.  And..I just kind of like the name....

Scritzy has been my internet nom de plume for seven years now. Scritzy is the name of a typeface (I'm a font freak). Both my parents were in the printing industry, and my mother has always sworn that I have ink in my blood.  ;D

Actually, the circumstances requiring a new nickname were kind of scary. I tend to use one nickname for everything, so I had this really cute variant of my real name as my standard nickname. One night, on AIM, I received a random IM from a guy wanting to talk. I ignored him and he kept bugging me. Finally, I asked him to leave me alone and he tells me that the last person who told him that, he tracked down and raped. He told me that he had linked to my LiveJournal and was reading about me. While I didn't post enough information for him to figure out who I was, he could narrow it down to my campus and department pretty fast.

While I was pretty sure it was a sick joke, I wasn't taking any chances. I closed the AIM account, blog, etc. However, my friends and I used them to keep in touch, so I had to come up with something new really quickly. I figured... well, I'm a chemist. "Bad" can either mean fabulous or just plain bad. In my work, I've had moments of utter brilliance and utter stupidity, so I figured "thebadchemist" kind of sums me up pretty well. Nowadays, I just worry that I might post a story on here and someone I know might recognize it!

I think much the same way as far as sickos finding me on-line. A lot of my on-line correspondence is with people i know in RL, so i was hesitant to use my usual nickname that i've had for years on e-hell. This forum has a way of drawing out personal details & i don't want to put too much information out there under one name. It seems slightly paranoid, but i don't care.

hobgoblinish is a play on words, sort of ... i sometimes feel like a goblin - a little creature hovering on the edge of everything but never truly a part of it, dirty, volatile, and not too bright. The 'hob' part comes from hobgoblins in some a fantasy novel i read (Terry Brooks, i think?) where hobgoblin was a construct, not a true being & that tickles me since it is an on-line moniker. The 'ish' is partially because on Delphooey hobgoblin was taken & i didn't want to add a number ... besides, i am not a hobgoblin ... i just sorta feel like a fake goblin sometimes. I have to admit 'hobgoblinish' has started to grow on me.
It's alright, man. I'm only bleeding, man. Stay hungry, stay free, and do the best you can.

I came up with my handle when I started writing fanfic in the Buffyverse. Giles was my favorite character, and I turned out to have something of a talent for erotica. I didn't want to put out something so unrepentantly filthy as my first fic under my real name, so I decided to start with 'Giles' and see what sounded good with it. When I thought of 'woman' it just sounded right; saucy, a bit naughty, but with my tongue planted firmly in my cheek.

Somehow it makes me giggle to think that I use a handle I created to protect my private life when I started writing adult-rated fanfiction as my handle on an etiquette board as well...but Gileswench is so much me now that I never think to take another name. I use it on LJ, MySpace, and all my correspondance.

I chose Emily in honor of my precious kitty, who passed away a few years ago at the age of 16. Emily was named after Emily Hartley on the Bob Newhart Show (though I told my English professor she was named after Emily Dickinson!). I could also be Simon or Oskar after my current kitties, but figured a female name was more appropriate since, you know, I'm a female.  ;)

That sounds like me. I've used this nickname on and off since 1983, when I invented it (there's a character named T'Mar in one of Syn Ferguson's stories - Valley of Shadows, a Trek fanfic - but I didn't know that at the time). When I first got on the Net and first wrote fanfic (in zines!! how last century!!), I used my real name for the stories, but T'Mar stayed as part of me, in my email address.

Then when I got a website and wanted to archive my slash, I thought that children I taught might find my website (which you could by googling my name and surname) and read the slash, so I made a separate page for the slash and used T'Mar.

Now I pretty much use it all the time. I really like it.

I have absolutely no creativity what-so-ever.

Annie = me

Jack = my daughter (Jacqueline)

So, Anniejack has been my username for as long as I've been on line.  Forever it seems like.  I wanted to get more creative but I also have no memory skills  :P so I stick with what I know.  LOL
