Oh better yet put the word NOEL on the roof but just pick out the NO in lights.  During the day "mild mannered Christsmas display"

but at night.....

I was reading some of the posts here to Mr. Sirius, including one mentioning a blow-up Santa.  He said that he thought an exploding Santa display was a little much.

Seriously, though, I think the word "No" on the front of the house in lights would be perfect.

I fail to believe (or maybe don't WANT to believe) that anyone could really feel THAT entitled.

Nessie, if you haven't read a lot of the site yet (I see you're new, and welcome), when you do, you'll see that there truly ARE people who think they're that entitled.  Tales of these people have been the cause of much pain for the forum members, via carbonated beverages snorted through noses and jaws bruised from hitting the floor.

That's the problem when dealing with trolls, and others who try to yank people's chains - there's hardly any level of entitlement you can pretend to that someone hasn't achieved for real. Sort of like trying to satirize headings for the National Enquirer - come up with a fake one, and next week, they'll top it for real.

I TRIPLE-DOG-DARE you to place the most outlandish, garish display on your lawn, COMPLETE with pink flamingos in santa hats.    >:D

 :o oooooooooooh!

Wait - pink flamingoes in Santa hats are outlandish?

Maybe where you are.  Here in fair City, you are given one with your keys when you purchase a rowhouse.  If your home has marble steps, you get two.  Or maybe it was just me.  But I do have them.

Oh, and lovely fair City is home to the Miracle on 34th Street.  Enjoy!  I know I do...

Perhaps you could get a "loaner" 'mingo.

Or you could co-opt the ginormous one in Hampden.  I'm not sure if it has its Santa hat on yet.

Happy Holidays, Hon!

On rosanne? Really? That's funny because I've often told people I live in an never ending episode of it. Heh.

And no, no way will we not put up our christmas lights. And my tree is going front and center of the window, just like always.

yup, season six, and it was called "white trash christmas".

Wasn't the Santa also "flipping the bird" to the neighborhood?

I vote that we take up an Ehell collection to synchronize all the neighborhood Christmas decorations, with one pre-selected house being decorated thusly: (with outdoor speakers to project the music, of course!)

Dear offended neighbor,

No.

POD!

Or:

Dear Offended Neighbor,
Here is a copy of the US constitution, and the Declaration of Independence. I have highlighted the pertant sections relating to your request and wish to inform you that if you wish to FORCE your beliefs on others, you might want to actually know what you are talking about!

and by the way MERRY CHRISTMAS AND ALL THE SAINTS BLESS YOU IN THIS JOYOUS SEASON OF CHRIST'S BIRTH!

snarky MDDG4 is shoved back in her box.

i'd also make sure everyone in the neighborhood got a flyer (not in their mailbox) that says

Dear Entitled Neighbor,

Putting anything other that mail delivered through the USPS in a mailbox is a federal offense. If I determined who did I will be reporting it to the USPS. As for your completely insane request the entire neighborhood bow to your insane demands...are you out of your mind? But I really must thank you. I've always thought a modest Christmas display was fine for my family, but we're now looking forward to creating a display large enough to be seen from space.

Feel free at anytime to develop a thicker skin and buy black out shades to block the 1,000,000 wattage spotlight that will be trained our lawn display.

If you don't like it....oh well. Life is full of disappointment.

Dear offended neighbor,

No.

Hear-Hear CathyF!!!!!!!

The freaking nerve of that person.  This is probably one of my biggest pet peeves.  I'm usually a very easy going person, but getting a note like that would be like waving a ginormous red flag in front of an already angry bull.

Like some of the previous posters, I'd take this as an invitation to respond with the phrase 'Duly Noted' (thank you Henry Rollins!) and then proceed to put up the most obnoxious Christmas decorations I could get my grubby paws on!

/rant off
It's ok to just go with it.
