Taking your kid in public with lice

I was reading an article today on MSN that said you can take your kid out in public if he/she has lice. Example: If you take your kid to the movies just bring a rain coat...the little buggers can't climb up it. Or maybe if you want to send you kid to school....just don't wash their hair...let it get greasy. How does everyone feel about this? I personally think it's a bad idea to have people in public with lice. I know for a fact most schools won't let you take your kid to school with lice.

I had lice once, when I was a kid... it's a BAAAAD idea. I work at a childcare now, and if we find out one of the kids has/had lice, we have to wash EVERYTHING cloth in both the schoolage rooms, because the kids move between the two. It's a huge pain, and honestly, lice should be treated.

If you know your kid has lice, why are you bringing him to the movies and not busy washing sheets and picking eggs and nits out of the kid's hair? And about the school thing---we had a lice check every now and then, I remember one kid had to leave school immediatly after they found he had lice. It was 6th grade and he was humiliated.
We got lice on occassion, usually in the spring time. My parents finally figured out we were getting it from the batting helmets at Little League. They bought us each our own helmet and a bunch of stickers to decorate it with so we wouldn't get them mixed up. That would be a good article--tips on how NOT to get lice.

No treat it. I know that there will be parents who will hear this and will do nothing to treat it because the news said that it was fine to be in public.
One of my sons got lice at school. It was a pain to clean everything in the house. It wasn't too bad cleaning their hair it was time consumming.

I got lice in my hair a couple of times as a kid through exposure to others with lice in their hair. We had to wash all our clothes, sheets, and linens and use special shampoo to get the stuff out of our hair. It was a PITA. Ugh.
