What type of vacations do you like

Our last vacation was out to Carolina Beach last March.  Since it was out of season, we got a great deal on a King-sized room, and spent the 4 days between watching the waves, taking the ferry over to other beaches, and eating out in empty restaurants.  It was wonderful.

OTOH, our trip to Paris was great too.  This was for our honeymoon, again for 4 days, and while I had been once before, DH had never even been on a plane, so it was great fun to show him all the sights.  We went to Pere Lachaise and walked around for hours, looking at all the different grave monuments, and got some great pictures.  We even got to see the Catacombs, although I got a bit claustrophobic there at the end of the tour.

Our dream vacation is to go back to Europe, to either Ireland or England.  We also want to rent a huge house at the Outer Banks for when we renew our vows.   ;D

My dream vacation is the one we are leaving for on Monday.  We are leaving Michigan for my parents house in Florida.  On Saturday my parents, my kids and I will drive down to Miami and leave on a 7 day cruise of the Western Carribean.  We are stopping in Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios, Jamaica.  I am treating my parents as a thank you for babysitting the kids all summer while I work.

I am so excited!!  ;D

I used to love things like camping and driving somewhere (I still like camping, although I haven't been in ages), but I'm starting to lean toward more luxurious travel now.  My dream vacation is a long cruise on either the new Queen Mary, or a Silverseas cruise (VERY expensive, but they treat you like royalty - as close to the Titanic as I'll get).  I would like to be pampered and cossetted the whole time.  Tee hee!

But I can't afford it and probably never will.  :P

My dream vacation would be a little bit of everything.  I am currently planning a honeymoon/dream vacation.  Scuba Diving, Museums, something scenic and athletic like hiking or kayaking, something on water like water skiiing, a day to not leave the bed except to open the door for room service, great restaurants, buying food from street cart, some days camping, some days in a hotel, maybe visit a ruin, and a day of snow skiing.  All but the last two are on the plan for hawaii.

Things not a part of my dream vacation are beaches (their only use is as a border to the water), cruises (not my thing) and posh, expensive hotels (been there, done that for work).
