Germs aside, talk about a great way to bruise up all the "reject" berries so that they really ARE unfit for consumption.

Sheesh, since when do we get to pick through packages of things to make sure we get all the prime pieces?  It's not like you can start opening up packages of chicken breasts to get the best ones out of a half dozen packages?  It's not exactly like you can pick through any other pre-packaged foods.  Produce that's already packaged is the same way.  Nobody is entitled to the best of all the berries.  You get the same general mix as everyone else.  To assume you deserve the BEST and everyone else gets whatever you deem unfit certainly says a whole lot about how you view yourself as superior.   :P  Gag.

Uhh...I open the cartons of eggs before I buy them.  I rarely touch them, but I do this to make sure none of the eggs in the carton are broken.  If I find a broken egg, I put the entire package back and look at another.  Is this considered rude and disgusting?

You might want to touch them - move them just slightly to make sure none are cracked on the bottom.  I learned to do that after finding one had not only cracked, it had dried to the container.  Ick!

I always open the egg carton and check the 4 "corner" eggs, as sometimes if the carton gets wet, the eggs will get stuck to it.   But once everything checks out, I buy the eggs.

That's how I check eggs too.  They may not be cracked on the top, but I've gotten a few that were stuck to the bottom also.  So now I open the carton and just make sure they all "wiggle" in their spot, before purchasing.

The only time I'll switch one out is if it's either cracked, where I can see it...and remove it...or if one is much smaller than the others.  But to pick and choose an entire "perfect" dozen?  No.  Definitely not.
