Order of Priorities
« on: February 04, 2007, 12:00:19 AM »
I'm taking a theater class, right now, where we put on a bunch of short plays. Different students direct and act in different ones, although we all act in more than one and no one is required to direct. This is considered an actual class, and during one of the periods in the day we rehearse. Show was Wednesday night. Oh, and everyone is commonly agreed that the girl directing one of the plays I was in is a b-witch.

So on Tuesday night, I had a fever, which persisted into Wednesday morning. Following the instructions of my dorm parent, I went to the nurse for it. He took my temperature, which was at 104, and proceeded to send me to the ER. (It actually sounds worse than it was.) So I went to the ER, was told I have a really severe cold, went back to school, spent the rest of the day asleep/reading in the health center, and then went back to dorm. (For some reason, we can't be in our dorms during the day even if we're confirmed ill.)

So, comes evening... still have fever, but it's peaked and going down. I'm setting off to go and be in the night's show, since there are no understudies. And I run into director-child into the hallway of the dorm. First thing she asks is if I'm going to be in the show, and upon hearing that I am, she says "Oh, good. I really didn't want to have to play that part. I want to watch the show I directed."

Um, hello? I spent the morning in the ER and you were worried about watching the show you directed? (For reference: my part was not big and would not have been difficult for her to play. There was a line and a paragraph... in a play that was a page and a half long, scriptwise.)

Some people can be incredibly insensitive. But I think in this case you can't do much more than roll your eyes and mutter under your breath. *Hugs!*
