Any 24 fans? May discuss spoilers!
« on: January 25, 2007, 11:54:40 PM »
OK, there HAVE to be some more 24 fanatics on this board! I am MORE addicted to 24 than AI and (gasp) Survivor! I am so happy, happy, happy that the Jack Bauer Power Hour is back on every week!!

Spoiler if you did not see 1/22 episode...

I can't BELIEVE that Blue Tooth Guy is Jack's BROTHER!!! And "meaningful" glances between brother - his wife (Rena Sofer, love that actress!), and Jack - is the kid Jack's kid? We know Jack messed around on his wife Terri (first season) with Nina the mole, he could have messed around with his SIL. Hey, the kid is almost taller than Blue Tooth Guy "Gray" so it's possible!
I am counting the hours until my next "24" fix!

I am!

Unfortunately, I read spoilers online, so Bluetooth Bauer wasn't a surprise >:(  I'm not going to read spoilers anymore!  I can't believe how much the kid looks like Kim.  I really think he could be Jack's son, although I don't think that his conception would coincide with Jack and Teri's separation.  I'd really hate to think he cheated on Teri multiple times, but it's certainly possible.  This storyline makes me nervous, because I don't want the show to get into soap territory.  On the bright side, a soap would find a way for Tony, Michelle, and Palmer to come back from the dead!  Sigh...Tony.

What I'm really wondering is how long it's going to be before Jack starts asking about Kim.  Didn't she and Chase used to live in Valencia?  I wonder if she was in the blast.

Last season Kim had broken up with Chase and there was some kinda psychiatrist guy she was with - that was a strange plot point they never really developed. I think they were somewhere in northern California, or maybe another state. I hope she doesn't show up this season. I was rooting for the cougar to eat Kim during season 2. I am sure at some point Chloe or Bill will mention what happened to Kim.

IIRC, Kim had told Jack that she no longer wanted to be a part of his life, and the therapist guy was pushing her to do this, which Jack reacted pretty badly to, or would have, if people weren't foaming out of the mouth in the main part of the office......I wonder if that was the producers' way of writing her out of the show.

I did some looking around, and FWIW, this quote from an interview with Elisha Cuthbert seems to sum up the issue for now:

Quote
Is There More 24 in Elisha Cuthbert’s Future?: Will she be back for the 2007 season of 24? “I haven’t heard any word yet," answered Cuthbert. "I would love to be. They’re sort of family to me. Anytime that they want me back, I would love to go. But no phone calls yet...”

There was no date on the article, but it was in relation for a newer movie that she is in, so it seems recent.   If anything, we will probably just get a mention about her from another character, if anything.

*waves arms and jumps up and down* Me, me!!!

24 and Lost are my two MUST see shows. Jack is the man! Aaron is my second favorite actor on the show. I always loved Dennis Haysbert too (watch in on the Unit now).

Did everyone know that the guy playing Jacks brother used to be Romano on ER?

Yes! I figured that out late last season. I really didn't recognize him when he first showed up, it was more like "I know that guy, where have I seen him before?" He plays obnoxious really well, doesn't he?
Did you recall he played one of the leads in the movie "Fame"? He had a full head of red hair as a teen!

Thanks, Joy.  I just wasn't sure where Kim and Ponyboy lived.  The show never made that very clear.  If Kim still lives in the L.A. area, at least there is a precedent for her living in Valencia.  Although Kim's subplots are generally tacked-on and boring, I'm glad the couagar didn't get her, as that would have made the cougar plot even more ridiculous.  They should have just written her off the show with Chase and left it at that.

Now, I'd like to take a poll of which of Jacks' ladies you like the most...
I think that Kate Warner from Day 2 can't be beat.  Teri was nice, but I think her death was necessary for Jack's character.  I strongly dislike Audrey.

I really liked Diane, the woman that he was with after they faked his death and he was hiding out.

24 is the best show on tv - altho I am really getting into Heroes too.  I have to record it on the DVR and then watch it because I can't stand the interruption of the commercial, they just ruin the mood and flow of the show.  It's like watching a really awesome movie and then suddenly having a commercial - it really ruins it for me.

Speaking of movies, I loved Keifers last movie - The Sentinel.  The critics didn't like it much but my husband and I really like it and we couldn't care less about what the stupid critics think.

Last Aug my sister broke her ankle and was laid up for awhile so I lent the first couple seasons of 24 to her.  At first she really loved it but she couldn't handle the unexpected.  When Teri was killed at the end it nearly killed my sister.  Last week I asked if she was watching the new season and she said it's to intense for her.  I thought that was funny.  I love the intensity!

I'm normally spoiled, but I didn't know about brother Romano.  I screamed out loud for that one.

I'm a little dismayed at Jack's treatment during the first four hours. Look, you dorks, this is Jack Freakin' Bauer telling you what to do.  Remember him, the guy who singlehandedly saves the world? (OK, so he gets a little help from Chloe and his man purse.)  Let's see, I'm the president.  I'm listening to Jack F. Bauer on one side and Ally McBeal guy on the other.  Whose advice should I take?  Dope.  At least Jack ditched the geek shirt.  That was pulling him down.

I do have hope for the president.  He can redeem himself with these two simple sentences:  "I don't care if I'm your brother.  Quit calling me!"  That said, I hope they can save the sister's boyfriend.  I like him.  I also like the terrorist turned hero, based on his bee-you-ti-ful eyes.  But let's face it, he's toast.  Jack F. Bauer's sidekicks are about as likely to live as the hero's buddy in an action movie.

I do not like Chloe's makeover.  I'm all for getting her out of the prissy sweater.  But Chloe's not a princess dress kind of woman, even if it's a black princess dress.  Put her in a cool pants and shirt combo and she'd look much more believable.

Spoiler.

I've read that the Russians are behind the terrorists, as retaliation for almost having their president killed off last season. I've also read that President and Mrs. Logan will be back this year.  Yay.

I haven't watched this past Monday's episode yet.  I didn't start watching until last season, so I don't know the history.

My husband HATES the show because he thinks it's so unrealistic.  I have to agree, because in the first ep, Jack gets stabbed, bonked on the head, blood everywhere, then when he escapes, he's good as new?

At any rate, I love the show, although I missed the final few eps last season.  I think I saw up until Audrey's father came back on the airplane to help save the day.

How did Jack wind up in Chinese prison?

IHow did Jack wind up in Chinese prison?
end of Season 5:
Jack saved the day, got all the poison gas and stopped takeover of Russian sub that could have released a nuclear torpedo IIRC. First Lady got a wire put on and recorded Pres Logan confessing his involvement in David Palmer's death in confrontation just before palmer's casket was put on plane to go to DC to lie in state. Jean Smart is WONDERFUL in that role! First Lady and Agent Pierce and CTU folks took great glee in letting logan know they had the evidence on him, in his own words.
Jack was in field, had just gotten good news that Logan was cornered, was called away to take phone call from Kim supposedly - but Chinese agents were laying in wait. LOGAN had given Jack up to the Chinese, because he was responsible for the Chinese consul getting shot and killed in Season 4 (which was why Chloe, Tony, Michelle, and Palmer helped Jack fake his death at end of Season 4 - Chinese demanded him). Last scene of Season 5 was Jack sailing off in belly of container ship headed for Shanghai.

Thanks Joy!  I can't believe how badly the US Govt treats poor old Jack when he always saves the day! LOL  Too bad his real life Canadian govt couldn't help him! lol (Kiefer Sutherland is Canadian and his Grandfather was the father of Universal healthcare in Canada and Premier of Saskatchewan in the 20's or thereabouts)

Thanks for the info about Kiefer.
I can't BELIEVE that snivelly little brother! OOOOOOHHH! That actor (Paul McCrane) sure does play evil weasel well!
I also like James Cromwell as an actor, it will be interesting to see a longer scene with him and Jack and find out what is behind this family estrangement.

Dave Barry blogs 24:

http://blogs.herald.com/dave_barrys_blog/24/index.html

If you're a fan of Dave Barry and a fan of "24," prepare to laugh out loud.  My favorite lines:

"And we know from last week's previews that the father is Farmer Arthur Hoggett, the guy who rescued Babe the pig"

and

"So wait... they think she might be a security risk, so they gave her a slower processor?"
