Mine were from my parents. All Santa did was stocking presents.

I do have a friend who is divorced, she said her son was 3 or 4 and came home one day in tears - because Daddy gave him a present at Christmas and Mummy didn't so love him as much because she didn't give any presents.  After that there was always at least one present from Mummy

We opened presents Christmas Eve, however, whatever I wanted most, Santa brought during the night and I found under the tree, unwrapped, Christmas Morning.

In our family the parents always buy a few gifts but the majority are from Santa.

One gift from the rents, the rest from Santa. They really went all out. The town Santa was a friend of the family and they had him come over for a visit. Told us not to look out the window, or we would scare the reigndeer. My sister and I hid and cried. It was freakish. LOL!

When my parents told us the truth, my sister packed up all her gifts and gave them back to my parents because they lied to her. Which I never got, but I'm not her and can't judge it.

We used to get all of our presents from Santa Claus and now still all the little kids in the family get presents from jsut Santa.  We celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve and the entire family (30+ people sometimes) gathers in one location.  When I was little, my parents were the only ones of their families to have had kids, so it wasn't to bad.  But now, there are a HECK of a lot of kids in the family so Santa brings tons of presents (I want to say the total amount of presents are around a hundred) and puts them all in the living room.  All the kids get presents from Santa and all the adults get presents from the actual giver.

I do remember when I was little, maybe 6 wondering why Santa had so many different handwritings.  THere were probably 5 or 6 different Santas giving presents back then, now, I'd say there are 10-15 different Santas a year.

PS: There are a lot of people in my family...and a lot of little kids...so celebrating it all together one night means a lot of presents, not a lot of spolied kids :)

I had both.  Parent presents were generally not amazing, clothes and the such.  Santa brought the big items, bikes and doll houses and one year a set of childrens encyclopedias which for me was the highlight of my childhood.  Santa gifts were unwrapped and set up in a really great display.  He also did out stocking although I personally never could understand why he always gave me underwear  :-\

we got more from mom and dad than we did from santa.

But there has been a long established rule in our families...
Santa doesn't give clothes or socks or underwear or boring stuff.

So the presents from mom & dad are opened on Christmas eve...and that's the boring stuff.
The TOYS from santa arrive before Christmas morn.

(we always got a LOT of clothing--it started when my parents didn't get paid over the summer and so they'd do our "school shopping" in early fall...convenient to Christmas.  Somehow it worked.  mostly )

A little background: When my BF was growing up, all of his presents came from Santa. When I was a kid, I got presents from Mom and Dad and presents from Santa. Now, we are no where near having kids, but if we did, we have very different opinions on what to tell them. He thinks all presents should come from Santa. I think that other kids will be getting presents from their parents AND Santa, and our kids will wonder why we aren't buying them anything. I thought I'd ask here and see what other people's experiences have been.
This reminds me of a short story by Truman Capote.  On Christmas morning, the very young boy opens all his gifts from Santa.  His Dad (who was never close to him, and is trying to make it up by spoiling the kid rotten) looks on proudly as the boy opens one gift after another. Finally, when he's done, dad says, "So son, did you like all the gifts Santa got you?" "Yes," says the boy,"But Daddy.... where are the gifts from YOU?  Didn't YOU get me anything??"
Turns out the boy knew the truth about Santa, but was trying (successfully) to increase his haul.   ;D

We got a combination.  The big gifts were from Santa and the smaller gifts were from parents.  Santa also did the stockings.  And in our area we also celebrate St Nick, so we got that too.  We did the same thing with our kids and now, I see the same thing with my granddaughters.

Although we had one friend whose kids got it all from Santa, including the candy and other treats for Christmas.  Since I put the parent gifts out early and also put the candy out (once the kids were old enough to leave it alone for the most part) they thought our kids were bad because there was some stuff out and it didn't come out until Santa came unless you were bad.

All the presents under the tree came from the Parents.

The stocking got filled by Santa (that is why it was hung over the fireplace, so he could get to it easier :) )  As we got older we had fun with this.  Mom would have no place to 'hide' the Santa gifts until Christmas Eve so she would start to place them in the stocking early.

When we would come home from school and see presents in the stocking Mom would tell us that Santa was super busy that year and the elves had stopped by earlier to drop off some gifts, to help him out :)  It was cute :)

Santa brought the main presents, but I'd always have a couple from Mom and Dad.  Santa brought toys and some clothes, but my brother and I commented that Mom always got clothes that we'd grow into but Santa was nice and brought clothes that fit now. :)  Santa also did stocking presents.

A combination of both, because Santa didn't wrap presents, and my parents did.
