Son of RSVP
« on: December 12, 2007, 07:21:05 PM »
Just heard this at lunch today... my jaw is still on the floor...

Friend had asked her family over for Christmas dinner.  Four took her up on the offer, the rest pled other plans.  Friend then shopped on the basis of feeding 8 people.  Friend is not a joyful and exhuberant cook, so she buys just enough to feed 8 and have a few (FEW!) leftovers.
Most of the time, there's a jar of pickles, some mustard, and maybe some butter in the refrigerator,
she's that "not into cooking".

After the stores had closed Dec 24, here comes her sister, husband and three kids expecting to be fed.  Then her mother, two nephews and four of mother's friends.

There's really not a whole lot of ways to make beef stroganoff fixings for 8 stretch to 20... especially when 7 of them are adolescent males.

I explained to her that if such a thing happens again, she should call me, as I'm from blizzard country and get nervous when there's less than 6 weeks worth of food in the freezer or on the shelves.  Or I'd be happy to lend her a clue by four or simply show up in my bouncer's outfit....

How did she cope?

Copious tears were shed, and everyone was put on an enforced diet.  Maybe that will be enough to prevent a recurrence, but knowing her family... wellllllllllll........
