Stolen! Right off his stone!
« on: December 19, 2007, 02:40:39 PM »
*I think this goes here, it's holiday related so I think so.  Otherwise please move to the correct folder.

This Christmas my DH and I spent almost $250 on a personalized marker for our son's grave.  It was beautiful, had his name engraved inside what looked like ice (it was glass) and a picture of him in it also.  I wish I had a picture that I could put here to show you what it looks like.

We took it out the first week of December and when I stopped by this morning on my way to work it was gone!  :o   So I called the manager of the cemetery to see if maybe someone had picked it up but he said he didn't see it in the office so he'd look around the cemetery to see if maybe it had been moved when they cleared the snow.  He just called me back, it's gone!  Nobody has seen it and the guy that cleared the snow said it wasn't there when he shoveled.

I am heartbroken!  It isn't the money it's the idea that someone took my baby's "gift"! :'(

I'm so sorry that someone did this to you.  There's a special circle of hell for them.

This breaks my heart, too. :(  This is just wrong.

I'm so sorry for your loss - of your dear son.  And, of a special remembrance you'd left on his grave.

Why would anyone take such a thing?  What do they think they could possibly use it for?

If you have time, go walk the grounds -- especially the edges of the property.  You may find it discarded by the thieves.

Is it possible that it will turn up in the spring once the snow melts?  Maybe it did get moved when the snow was cleared.  You said id looks more or less like ice, so I'm guessing it could easily get lost in the snow......

ETA: I'm very sorry for your loss.  I would prefer to believe that someone wouldn't steal something like this and truly hope is is like the situation I've described above.

It makes my blood boil when people steal from those who have moved on. They'll get theirs soon enough.

I am sorry for your loss.  :'(

That is just disgusting.  I'm so sorry that you've had to go through this.  People who do things like that just make me sick.

Please add my sympathy as well.  Someone stole my parents' grave markers this Spring (to resell for the brass) and it's just like being personally attacked.  The level of disrespect this shows against you and against your son is appalling.

Will the cemetery replace this?--it might be covered by their insurance.

I'm so, so sorry.

I'm so sorry.  (((((Hugs)))))

One of my friends grandson died and she leaves trinkets and toys on his grave all the time.  Most of it is always stolen.  Makes me sick.   >:(

Mom2Brett, i'm so sorry this has happened to you.  Tabris had a similar experience.  this is just horrible for both of you.  i can't imagine what kind of low life, pond scum, lower-than-a-snakebelly would do such a thing.  but karma is not a nice lady.  they will get theirs.

Oh my goodness, how could anyone do such a horrible thing?! <tight hugs> I hope it turns up.  Maybe it did wind up moved in the snow and you'll find it after the snow melts?

People really suck. (I know not everyone) There is another board I frequent where the lady would often bring things to her son's grave and they woudl be stollen. After a lot of this happening the woman would put in permanent marker "This was stolen from a baby's grave"

((hugs)))
I am so so sorry!!

For the love of God, what kind of scuzzbucket would do something so horrible?

I am so, so sorry.
